Someone recently referred to a shirt I posted as "mustard" colored. It's really more like marigold, matches Behr's Mango Tango, the color I'm about to paint my kitchen, well. "Mustard" isn't an insult, but it also is not the same as mango. Questions about color seem to come up pretty often. Sometimes people can get around them like Jenn did in her "sales goggles" post, by linking to the item as a find. But sometimes the item in question is vintage or older as in Mirjana's post about her linen pants or otherwise not on line and finds don't work (unless the user takes her own picture, which just repeats the same problem).
Is there, or could there be, a color picker so people can choose the right color, which is stored as RGB or other precise identifier for a color, so readers can see what it actually is? There might need to be some kind of tool to calibrate colors once. If you wanted to go a step further, skin tone, eye and hair color in user profile could be done the same way.
