What color shirt should a guy wear when the girl is wearing a red dress?

Neutral is always safe-black, grey, white, navy-and red tie (assuming its for a prom?).

Any colour he likes. Normally, couples don't need to match. But if they want to, or are requested to, of course they can do it. In that case, the obvious solution would be that he wears something red-- not necessarily a shirt, but perhaps a tie. And make sure that the reds are similar to each other, as orange-red next to blue-red is seldom a great match.

Pink and red, or orange and red are a little hard on the eyes, but other than that, red's a pretty classic colour that would complement most masculine outfits.

White or black would look classic.

Navy or taupe would look nautical.

Brown or tan would look autumnal.

Grey or teal would look modern.
