These are just observations whilst walking about the downtown core of Cologne (pop. around 1 million) where folks are as likely to be tourists as locals.
In a sea of black puffers, a few bright colours stand out. Also, oyster white and some burgundy. I saw black puffer outfits where a hat or bag in an unusual colour was a ‘pop of colour’. The sour brights - especially a greenish colour like the puffers in #2 and #3 seems popular as well as teal, other greens, and orange for a hat, scarf or bag. Everything else black, or possibly dark wash denim.
This is also the first city where I saw a lot of converse sneakers (!!) black or coloured. Black leather Chelsea boots with rounded or squared toe seem popular. Also combat style boots in colours: the acid green mentioned above, teal, red, mustard yellow. Tonal winter white with a long coat - despite the damp weather - is a look embraced by a few brave souls.
Once again, not a lot of ‘bling’ or hardware on footwear or bags. Smooth, rich looking leather in simple shapes - large half moon or tote style. No baseball hats. Knit hats, chunky beanies, berets.
Not much obvious branding, but a surprising amount of North Face jackets and backpacks. Very little pattern. Not seeing any warm beige, camel, or brown.
