Oh, you are such a kind and thoughtful set of human beings. Truly your kindness brought tears to my eyes.
This year we (so far) have been lucky. There are fires all around the state and yosemite but we've been safe. Also they only closed the road once for a week during the el portal / foresta fire.
Much better than the Rim fire last year. The fire started 10-15 miles from us and spread to a point only 4 miles away last year. The fire forced road closures for over a month so it devastated our business. To the contrary we have had a good summer this year. So the worst I've experienced this year was a week of road issues and many smoky mornings. No direct threats. This year we are having smaller fires and cal fire is doing an excellent job working with the forest service to contain quickly. So we have 5000 acre fires as opposed to 279,000 acre fires. I think they are on it this year and prepared. I should write them a thank you note! Right now the bad fire is north of us in placerville forcing the closure if highway 50.
