I have only ever tried one item from ASOS and while it looked nice, it didn't fit the way I had hoped. I just happened to be perusing them last night, and I sorta fell in love with some of their coats.

Anyone ever buy a coat from them? How is the quality?

My heart loves this one, but I fear it will date quickly. The pattern would be nice to hide the occassional mishap, and it is machine washable: http://us.asos.com/ASOS-CURVE-.....7&sh=

I have only bought one actual ASOS brand item, a tunic/dress, and the quality was fine... not high-end, but not bad. However, they did leave out one important detail in that the entire front panel was sheer. Kept but need a slip with it... so I guess there may be surprises when you receive the item.

ceit has purchased several dresses from asos. you can pm her for her experience re reliability of description.

really, though, asos has free shipping both ways so i would chance it. the only downside is the shipping duration.

I bought a ponti casual coat from them. I wasn't happy with the quality it pilled after a couple of wears.

Cet's dresses were River Island brand, though, if I'm not mistaken. I bought one of her same dresses, and it was River Island. They sell all kinds of UK brands in addition to their own line. The quality is going to be much varied. They sell Karan Millen coats, for example, which are superb quality, but I wouldn't expect that from the ASOS brand.

I do not know anything about the quality or fit, alas. I hope somebody else has more information. I do think the styles could have potential for you.

I have a fab coat from ASOS (wool) and a super-cheap flimsy coat from ASOS (faux leopard). It's really about the brand - the inhouse brands are a little less quality, I find.

I think that Dotty is inexpensive enough that it would be fine to wear the heck out of it for a short time even if it did end up dating quickly. Though I'm not sure it will. I may be a bad person to comment because I've gone hog wild on polka dots lately after avoiding them all my life.

That polka dot coat would look fab on you and sounds like it would work better for your lifestyle. I have a River Island maxi skirt from ASOS that has held up well, but have not ordered a coat from them before.

I do so love fit and flare coats and I just don't find them often!

Glad you decided to try it, Thistle. Could be a fun one for transitional and warmer seasons. The fact that it is washable is a big plus and it clearly has potential with your fit and flare style.
