Clown shirt?

I was hesitant to buy this Vince Camuto top from Nordies because of the waist surrendering silouette. Trying it out at home. One online review said the top was "clownish". I'm feeling self conscious. Should it go back or should I embrace the trend?

I think I would like it more if it looked a little more drapey -- it seems to pouf out a bit more than I prefer. I like the black and white spots!

I think this is very chic and not "clownish" at all. I bet that person who said this doesn't like polka dots. I absolutely LOVED the color of the skirt you paired this with-it gives it that little something extra with that pop of color and while black would have been fine, its more expected and conservative. If you are not used to wearing bold prints, I can understand your hesitation but give it a try. Looks great on u!

I like the polka dots and the bold print, but Janet, I think the blousiness might be because I'm short waisted. I have a few other things in the try on pile and too much poof at the waist seems to be a theme : )

I think it looks great on you but I love polka-dots. I almost ordered it but the waist would not work with my body shape.

Briar, that makes sense to me. I'm short-waisted too, so I think I'm a bit hyper aware of poofiness! I have a top that does the same thing and I always end up passing over it when I reach for something to wear (although I'm reluctant to let it go).

I think it's very nice and I'm not much of a polka dot person. About the poofiness, why not wear it around the house for a few hours and see if you forget you have it on or if you grow more distracted by it?

I think it looks nice! As long as you pair it wiht something tailored on the bottom (like the beautiful skirt you chose here), I think it looks very nice.

I really like it, and love it with the skirt. I could see where polka dots could seem clownish to some, but Iwith the skirt it looks really chic and classy.

I'm not a polka dot fan myself but I think that the colour combo you're wearing looks awesome on you. I'd also suggest trying one size smaller to see if it isn't quite so full on the top- if that works I think this top has the potential to be awesome.

Angie and Nadia--the top is a PXS and I typically wear a size PS (4/6 ). The armholes are 12" wide. It is a very voluminous cut.

Wow! I never would have guessed that was xs from the cut. For my own style I lean towards slightly more fitted clothing so *if it were me* I would probably not keep the top. But it's really a matter of personal preference so take my advice with a grain of Brair-style salt.

While it does look lovely on you, it takes me back to the 80's. Now that's not necessarily a bad thing, however I know that this would end up hanging in my wardrobe alone I think it really depends on how you feel in it.

The top is lovely, and you've styled it very well. I'm short-waisted too, and would pass on it for that reason. Nothing like being self-conscious all day!

I'd wear that, and I'm not all that fond of polka dots. It looks great with the pencil skirt. Yes, it's a full top, but that's the way it's supposed to fit. Now I'm giving away my age (EEK) because I used to wear tops like that. The secret is to pair a full top with a very fitted bottom... or vice versa (fitted top with full bottom).

I really like the blouse and the rose colored pencil skirt you've paired with it. Still, if it's just feeling too big for you, and you can't get much smaller than PXS, then you may have to keep looking that perfect polka dot top.

Thank you for all the feedback, esp from fellow short waisted gals. It is going back today. As much as I love the pattern and liked with pink Halogen skirt, for the price, I should find a more flattering fit.
