Clothing subscription services

I'm fairly new to YLF, so apologies if you've already discussed this at length, but it seems like every day there's a new clothing subscription box service out there.
Living in London I never saw the need, as everything I wanted was on my doorstep. Now I'm in Reno, NV, there's less choice (aside from online), so there's more appeal to these services.
I recently signed up for 3 services to review them for my blog (see the results of that here if you like https://fifthandfinest.com/hom.....-my-review), but I swear I've learned about 10 more services since I even wrote it this week!
In particular Daily Look looks great, if a little more pricey than most.
I might want to opt into a service after my experience and I'm interested to know if you guys have any favorites/ones to avoid?

They seem like more trouble than they're worth from your reviews! To me its like a CSA- you get what they feel like giving you, and I'd rather make the choices myself.

I think it depends if you like shopping or not, and if have the time to shop, and if you like the concept. I know a few of those subscription company, and usually stay away from them, as it is not my fashion style, and truly, they are pretty random picks (for the most part). Plus I don't think there are big savings. I do stay with 1 company, as it specialize in more business formal tops, and the price is constant, and they preview the items before it goes into production, which I get to pick or skip. 70% of my work wear comes from them now. Because they only do it 4 times per year, I don't feel like I'm buying clothes all the time.

I am not sure we have any of these in New Zealand. I read the reviews on your site, thank you.
The whole idea seems weird to me. Why would I let someone else pick what I might like to wear? But then I mostly really enjoy shopping and like a lot of things. So it’s a No from me. Also would worry about fast fashion, the environment, and sustainability/ethics.

I live in an area with very limited shopping options for 8 months out of the year. In the summer season we do have some lovely boutiques, but they don’t offer a lot of stock.
I have tried 2 services. From my experience, there are pros and cons.
Pros: The profiles to fill out are helpful. They allow you to specify styles you prefer, don’t like, color preferences, budget range for items, etc. Returns are easy. Communication with your stylist is simple.
One service sends pictures and info of items your stylist has chosen for you, before shipping. You can change colors or remove items from the grouping prior to the package being sent.
Cons: Even with a stylist who seems to understand what you are looking for, it often seems to be a hit or miss experience. Quality varies among services and even within a service. Different brands are sized differently and that doesn’t seem to be a detail attended to by either of the services I tried. Within the shipment I would often find items that were too small or huge, it labeled the same sizes. Soooo I am inferring that perhaps the stylists didn’t quite know their brands/ products too well, or just pulled from a size range, without really giving thought real life sizing.
At first it was fun to get clothes in the mail and I had some success. It became more frustrating than fun, so even though it offered plenty of clothing I can’t purchase nearby, I am back to lots of online research and shopping when I need something.

Thanks for your feedback ladies. Appreciated.I guess most of us here enjoy the process of researching and buying clothes, and style is pretty important to us, so it makes less sense for us to use a service like this. For someone who does not like to shop or needs more guidance it would be a good idea.
I agree with what was said about sizing - the services that send you a variety of brands do not seem to take into account the sizing variations across those brands. Frank & Oak is different since they are just sending you their brand clothing, so presumably there's consistency (that said, their size 9 shoes were too small for me and that's my size!).
If I try out any other services and have more success I'll let you know!
