I think Rachylou’s questions are worth some time thinking over before your shopping spree. This site and others like it are full of stories of buying lots of things that regrettably don’t work for the owner. When you step out, you want the confidence of knowing you look great.
That’s not to say you shouldn’t go to the mall today. I think you should—but mostly to try things on, until you have a feeling for how you like the way different things fit you. Maybe get a couple of really fun things, like a soft, fuzzy sweater and one great outfit, but spend most of your time seeing what you think of the way long skirts, short skirts, midi skirts, pencil-straight skirts, A-line skirts, full skirts, and pleated skirts fit. The same for pants, jackets, etc. If’s work, but I think it will also be fun for you.
It’d probably also be worth your while to look at style guidelines for your shape, which I’m going to guess is an inverted triangle or a rectangle. Even if you just look those up in Angie’s archive and read through her blog posts, you’ll have some ideas of where to start with. See how it works for you & go from there.
Have fun today!
