closet planning!

I need closet ideas... not clothes but the actual closet.

We are in the midst of a master bathroom and walk-in closet addition and I need to figure out how I want my closet arranged. It's going to be around a 5'x5' little room. I'm thinking of having hubby build corner shelves, then have hanging rods on each side of the shelves. One side would be a single rod for dresses and the other would have two rods for short things like tops, skirts, and jackets. So that would cover 2 walls. I'm thinking of getting fabric-lined containers for things that need to be contained, like bras, underwear, and socks.

What do you think? How would you arrange a small walk-in closet?

That sounds good--what about some shelves for shoes?
Also, try pinterest for some great ideas.

Don't know if you have had a look around houzz, but there are some great ideas there. One of my favs is a rod that pulls down, so you can put the top rod up high but still have it usable.

The Elfa sale on shelves should be coming up. We did our whole closet in it when we built (the Christmas sale is even better). Drawer bins, shoe racks, rods, shelves. By the time we bought materials it would have cost similar for what we got. DH and I installed it. Since our house is very small, kitting out the closet meant we can get by without any dressers in the bedroom itself, which saved some money at the furniture store.

ETA the two valet rods I installed are incredibly useful for planning outfits and packing.

Rambling Ann, I'm hoping the closet will allow me to eliminate my dresser. It's one of those large 9-drawer-with-a-mirror dressers that works, but the drawers are starting to break and it's simply huge. Our master bedroom is only about 13'x13' room so decent size, but not super large. With our king-size bed, getting rid of the dresser would give me space for my desk to be in there.

I used the Closetmaid site to plan my last walk in closet. It will help with the floor plan and shelving and drawer needs.

I would not underestimate the value of a professional closet design in this situation. Even with the Elfa stuff I believe they help design. I scrapped my builder grade closet and more than doubled my storage in my last house. And added things like the pull out packing rods I never would have thought of on my own. Also Pinterest and houzz but that can be overwhelming after a while.
