Closet Organization Article

My closet is in a sad state. I read this article in Style at Home magazine and thought I would share. It was almost enough to get my moving.

Good article. Digestible. I'm thinking about my space now... I'm one of those people who has to put other stuff in the closet.

Like the idea of a valet rod/ hook-- to put together an outfit for the next day. Never heard or or seen one before, so will have to source.

Runcarla, I have seen something like it at ikea and was thinking about incorporating it into my closet in the new house.

I found a valet rod at Home Depot too (Martha Stewart brand I think) Its with the closet organizer stuff (naturally! LOL). Easy to install and hides away when not in use.

LOL I was supposed to organize my closet for spring last night. Instead I sat around on the couch, "thinking about it". Thanks for sharing this article, I'm going to try to tackle it tonight. Heading to Lowe's sometime today, too, so will look for a valet rod, thanks!

Thanks for sharing. I really liked these 6 things to consider during a closet edit:

Do I feel comfortable/good in this?
Does this fit?
Does this make me look good?
Is this still stylish or does this accurately represent my personal style?
Is this easy to maintain?
Does this suit/reflect my lifestyle (for instance, if you've had a career change or become a mom)?

I love having an organized closet. Even though it looks in good shape now, I still feel like there's probably a good percentage I hardly wear. Maybe I should go over it again with a fine toothed comb!

Excellent points!

I read somewhere recently that if you have a lot of black in your closet, it helps to alternate with items of color to break up the block of dark pieces so you can really see them. I tried it and it works well.
