Neat and transparent! Congrats for achieving a closet nirvana for You!:-)

Kathie, I think I’ve been using this method of sort of filing items in drawers for a couple of years now, and I far prefer it over stacking things in drawers — it only takes an extra fold or two, and I can see things so much better! It is a Kondo thing as well, but she actually wants things folded up so compact that they stand without falling when placed on a surface. My drawers are quite deep, so that wouldn’t work for me.

Very nice! I fold my clothes in drawers the same way. I started it a year or so ago and love the way I can see everything whenever I open the drawer.

Bravo, Janet! Oh how I love to see posts like this, and yours is so inspiring! Thanks for sharing your work.

Thanks for sharing your progress, and your drawers! They're inspiring. I can never see what I have, and what's more, my drawers are starting to fall apart. The bureau is IKEA, and was purchased when we had less money, but we probably won't bother to replace it until we move in a couple of years and see what our new space is like. I need to fix the broken drawer and do something like this. I'm also terrible at folding...

Wow. You are inspiring! I like the way you fold your drawers. I don’t have a lot of drawers but used to do that for DD’s t shirts. It always looked beautiful for a day, then she would destroy it.

That looks wonderfully organized and I'll bet you feel great!

Great looking closet! Thank you for sharing the pics. I think after I did a thorough closet clean last year it really helped me realize what I had (or didn't have) and in fact ended up making me feel less of a need to add to it with the exception of a few things that I could finally see were true "holes" in the wardrobe.

Example, I found I only had 2 pair of "cold winter" shoes and they are both the same color. I only need winter shoes for about 3 months so I've neglected to add more - but that is still quite a long time and having just one color limits me too much. So I'm on a quest to find at least one other pair of winter shoes (warm/sturdy/waterproof) in another color.

The same issue for "winter" weight jeans/pants. I've done a great job focusing on my dominate warm and hot weather climate but have somewhat neglected the cold 3 month period and now find I only own like two pair of jeans/pants warm enough for winter weather.

Good work! I still stack tops in my drawers since I don't have much drawer space and mostly use it for work out clothes. The silky workout material doesn't stand up well. However, I taught my kids to roll their shirts so they can be lined up in drawers. It keeps their drawers from overfilling and they can see all their shirts - no digging around for a shirt on the bottom and making a huge mess.

Wow! Looks like you’ve got good breathing room now.

After looking at these pics, I'm pretty sure your closet is around the same size as my whole house and I'm jealous

Nice work! It looks so neat and organized and I'm very envious XOXOXOXO

Wow. I’m dreading going into my closet right now but you’ve inspired me.

now i'm thinking i should learn the kondo folding thing...

The closet edit is work, no question, and I could stand to do another pass (I may wait until we have more winter wearing season first, to give me a chance to test out some questionable pieces). But it’s SO worth it when it’s done.

My whole house is eventually getting this treatment. I have a big box of Christmas things I’m letting go, and lots of household goods and decor items that are going too. I’m feeling the pull of a simpler space with less stuff to clean and move around. And the basement storage area — complete with those final two boxes of stuff from my mom’s house — is getting tackled in the month to come as well.

Well done! A tidy closet makes you feel like you can manage anything! Every night before I go to bed I go into my closet, look at my small selection of clothes hanging patiently and neatly on their hangers waiting for me to need them and remind myself that the next day will bring I will be able to dress appropriately while showing my personality. (And for unpredicted emergencies I keep a bright lipstick in my bag at all times). After that I can sleep calmly.

Nice work! I like how you folded things. I recently started doing that too and really like it.

Excellent KonMari folding!! *applause*
