Thanks for posting this challenge, Angie. At first I thought, "I've already edited a lot throughout this year... I don't have anything left to get rid of!" But as we all know, that's rarely true. Here's what's definitely and probably leaving; I'm hoping that by articulating the reasons, it'll be easier to let go of some of the things on the chopping block.

During the wear-tracking challenge last month, I let go of three items (I'm counting them because they were out the door *just* before Angie's closet edit post):

1: Slim-legged olive cargo pants from Express: I loooooved these, but they'd been worn into the ground and patched several times (with a few more holes threatening to open soon). They were also a very low rise... I used to love low rise, but I'd like closer to a mid-rise these days.

2: Dark olive shorts from Express: These were hard to let go of only because I loved the color, and I otherwise have no shorts left. But they were super low rise and large on the waist (I could shimmy out of them without unfastening if I didn't wear a belt).

3: Silver d'Orsay flats from Marc Fisher: Sob. These hurt to let go. So lovely. But they ran quite big and were uncomfortable no matter what inserts I tried in them.

Added to the out pile since Angie's challenge:

4: Black moto vest from Target: Cute and *should* fit well into my style, but I finally realized why it always looked awkward and I never reached for it. It fit well in the body, but then the shoulders were too narrow to look right on my relatively broad shoulders. Especially since it had (small) epaulets, which were then sitting awkwardly too close to my neck and too far from the edges of my actual shoulders. Off it goes.

5: Black drape back top from Karen Kane: This was chosen for me by a stylist, and I like it in theory... it's like a cowl-neck shape (which I absolutely love), but low and on the back. But the body is too billowy for my taste, there's a bar of fabric across the back of the neck that I don't think looks graceful, and the back dips *just* low enough to show my bra band. Too fussy and I never reach for it.

6: Black cropped bodycon short-sleeve mockneck: A little seasonally confused. It could make a good layering piece, but I never actually wear it that way and don't think I care to. I cheated a little with this one... I'm not actually getting *rid* of it yet. I moved it to my dance wardrobe; since I teach bellydance, midriff-baring close-fitting tops have a place in my life, so students can see what muscles I'm using. This should be good as it gets cooler in the studio over the winter.

*Probably* going... these are the things I need to muster my strength to pass on, but I think I'll get there:

7: Gray lace moto vest from INC: A gift from my mom (which is part of why it's hard to let go of), and *should* fit my style. But I can't get one of the... flaps? to lay flat, no matter how I iron or try to coax it into place. It flops over and hangs awkwardly and annoys me. I never reach for it, even though I keep telling myself I should.

8: Pinstripe ankle pants from Express: I loooove pinstripe, and the fabric feels nice, but the fit is a little awkward on me. The pockets gape open and there's a smidge of extra fabric around the seat and hips.

9: Ancient black Editor pants and blazer from Express: The first real suit I bought after college. Which was a very long time ago, as I'm around mid-career now. It's served me well and is in good shape, but the pants are super thin and the blazer shape looks a little dated to my eye. I need to finally let this one go and look for an upgrade.

10: Black skinny jeans from Express: I wear these a lot, but they're a lower rise than I want right now. They're also a bit faded, which would be fixable if the shape was right. I had an Express gift card, so ordered a higher-rise corset-laced pair to hopefully replace (corset lacing has always been one of my weaknesses... I love it as a design detail, whether it's on trend or not)... that should arrive soon so I can evaluate.

11: Black ankle pants from Express: These may stick around until I find a new go-to pair of black pants. The fit issues are similar to the pinstripe pair above, though not as pronounced.

Misc other:

I have a pair of gray skinny jeans that are a little long and a little loose around the ankle (just a little awkward for either cuffing or stuffing into boots). I already bought a different pair of higher-quality gray skinnies to replace them (yay, Poshmark). I may cut the baggier ones to crops or shorts, since I'm short on shorts now.......
