Mo, IMO, it would be much better to get one that's a little long and have it hemmed to the perfect length for you than to get one that's too short.

Mo, I vote for the leather too. I think it fits you and your lifestyle better than the Rachel Roy skirt, beautiful as that is.

My first thought was that you'd wear the shorter leather skirt more with your casual style. You'd look fab in either, I just wonder if the first skirt would be a closet orphan?

For you, I vote for the shorter leather skirt. You don't need officewear and your style is too fun for a standard pencil skirt.

This one isn't leather (and it's 4 inches shorter) but it's on sale for $10.49 at Express:

thanks for the late leather supporters weighing in lol! Girl X, the skirt isn't that expensive, considering it is real leather, but thanks for the Express link anyway http://www.6pm.com/bb-dakota-damien-skirt-black I do know that I don't want to go any shorter than the 16" skirts I currently wear.

Sounds like you've got your options well sorted out, but in case you'd like another one, I noticed this skirt today. Pleather, not leather, but exposed hardware and I liked how sleek it looked.

Oooh - that's gorgeous and a great price! I like the way the panels wrap around the side as well.

Yeah, I almost about to pull the trigger. Put on a jersey drapey skirt in the same length to approximate the look. I don't think it's too short? 17" here

I think the length is fine. As you said it's similar to your cargo skirt... And you've got the great legs for it!

I would at least try the Rachel Roy one. You can always return it. I don't have a problem with the short leather skirt, but it's not nearly as special and given that you said you don't want to add much to your wardrobe, I would hold out. You can always get a cheap black pencil skirt that looks decent. If you want to add some leather to your wardrobe, why not some leather jeggings? These can be found inexpensively at fast-fashion shops, and I am surprised by how easy mine are to wear.

Well, the deed is already done. Incidentally, the stretchy skirt I used to mock up some looks has a higher side to it that's too short that I just rotated to the back for the pictures. It's getting purged, along with my tiered black skirt that just makes me feel thick. So it needed to be a skirt at any rate, not pants, of which I have plenty. Also because these chunky sweaters I have in mind are too short for pants. Great idea on the leggings, though. I saw IK's post on the LAMB pants and loved those. Hope she gets them.

Mo, I could see you wearing either one actually! You definitely have the legs to rock a leather mini. Can't wait to see you wearing the one you picked!

And you just knocked me out of SYC, I think. I really wanted that Rachel Roy skirt at NAS but there was no way to justify it at those prices. But now that it's at Rack, it definitely deserves an investigation. Problem is I don't know if I can squeeze into it now, or what size I would need after I (hopefully) return back to my normal figure. I ordered three sizes and figured it's at least worth a try-on!

Ooh, Natalie, that skirt is made for you and your ladylike style! Can't wait to see it.
