Class reunion time - what should I wear?

Gulp. 35 years. It is between a white linen skirt and tops or a new dress I picked up today for $17. I've been a shopping machine lately. Think I'll keep the dress regardless, it will be good for throwing on instead of shorts/crops and a top. My other decision is shoes. I just received the flat Ecco sandals from Nordstrom today, so it is between them and the higher cork wedge bronze sandals. What do you think? No, not about how old I am, I know the answer is "very" - I mean what do you think about outfits and shoes? Thanks a million!

For a 35th reunion, I'd clue into Shannon's comment on how some of her outfits make her FEEL "tall and skinny", and Jayne's comment on how some of her outfits have a much higher "happiness quotient" than others.

Personally, I like the dress and wedge sandals, but, more to the point, I really think it's all about how the outfits make you FEEL. That, to me, is the most important criteria; if you feel great, you'll be glowing; if you're glowing, the rest of your classmates will be saying "wow, she looks so good!" (And isn't that what we all secretly want from our class reunions?)

So that is my philosophy about dressing for situations where you will meet old boyfriends, frienemies, and the rest the crowd who hasn't seen you for 35 (or 40 or 45--that's me!) years.

Both combinations are quite pleasing, but the dress is wonderfully vibrant while still being chic -- I vote for the dress. And have a great time!

Love bubble top with skirt and I like it with the white jacket too. The dress is also really nice. I think you can't go wrong with either look and would pair with the wedge shoe.

Thanks everyone! Whodathunk a $17 dress would get the thumbs up? Does the denim jacket look ok for keeping the chill away if necessary? I'm sure there will be a little of everything as far as attire goes. The venue is nice but not what I would call fancy. Gaylene, you articulate what I cannot : ) and Beth Ann, vibrant and chic are music to my ears.

I do prefer the dress with the wedges though. It seems more laid back...I just threw this on and happen to look gorgeous.

Love the dress - especially the color! Love the dress with the denim jacket as well!

Wearing the dress with the denim jacket is something that I would do, but it's not everyone's cup of tea, so it's important to consider if it's something you like and something you feel comfortable in.

I like 4 best with shoe on your right foot. Closely followed by 3 which is a great skirt.

#5 gets my vote! That dress is just smashing and I love it with the white jacket.

The other options are perfectly fine too, it's just that the dress 1) is a beautiful color for you 2) I think I prefer that type of sleeve on you 3) looks more festive 4) flatters your shape 5) the single color of the dress gives you a long lean line -- compared to breaking up your shape with dark top and light skirt.

You wear a dress quite well!

Gaylene is worth listening to! I would ask yourself her questions!

As for me, I like the dress with jacket look, and either shoe. I think this will be absolutely perfect for the occasion. Polished but laid back, youthful but not trying too hard. The jacket will keep the chills off (if any) yet still look summery and bright. The dress gives you a nice line.

I'm going to be a spanner and vote either outfit. I like the separates with the wedges as much as the dress. Can't go wrong either way. Have a great time at the reunion!
