IT WENT FAB! After messaging Angie privately, I decided to wear the jeans outfit. I got there and was AMAZED at the beautiful boutique setting. Really! Like the Anne Fontaine store or something. Big chandelier, beautiful interior design. WOW.
After a quick tour, I was told to put my purse in the cabinet and get to work shadowing a "personal shopper"! I was not prepared for that! What an amazing time I had. I can't think of anything more gratifying. These ladies came in looking very rough, and when they were dressed in heels and a beautiful suit, it's like they became a whole new person. Their excitement was infectious!
We got to help her choose a complete interview outfit, shoes, bag, hose, everything! It was such fun discovering their likes and dislikes and knowing why something didn't work on a particular figure type. I always blamed the clothing if something wasn't working, something I learned here (actually every thing I used today I learned here)!
A few times I had to hide my face as tears sprung to my eyes. What a restorative organization where women are treated with such respect. You could tell that was new for many of them.
Wow, I really have to go. I'll tell you more later...thank you all so much for asking how it went. I signed up to work each Wednesday this month. Oh and as I was walking out the door the scheduler asked me not to wear jeans next time. So maybe I need to work on a little "volunteering capsule", lol!
