Yes, I thought it was a refreshing image too - makes you realize that we are all pretty much in the same boat - we're all aging and life leaves it's marks of experiences on us. And that should be considered a good thing, not a bad thing!

Definitely a good thing. Women need reminders that even seemingly perfect super models are not perfect. Too many women feel bad about themselves and strive for the unattainable.

Wow. Cindy Crawford is my new hero. She is fantastic, this is a great idea, I'm definitely buying the magazine!

Last night I was checking out Refinery 29 and they had this piece on models and fashion week. The pressure to be thin and young is as real as ever. This is a world where 26 year olds are old, and there are girls as young as 12 walking the shows. I guess that's the only way you can get the airbrushed look without airbrushing. No flaws at that age.

I really like that people in their 60s like LInda Rodin are being used to model now. I would be interested in seeing women in their 30s-40s-50s as well.

I agree with the need to have models in older age brackets. I believe the baby boomer and older age bracket has the most expendable cash, yet retailers see to only want to advertise prescription drugs to this market. I can't really envision what I will look like in something if I only see it on a 15 or 20 year old model.

I don't think I shared this already but this is a great inspiration - this woman was the first "Miss Polaroid" back in the day and now at 80 she is still into fashion full forward.

Aww, that's really too bad Marilyn, I was looking forward to the "real" images. Figures. Guess she's not the hero anymore. :-(.

Jamie Lee Curtis is my hero. In 2002 at 43 years, she did a photo shoot for MORE magazine showing before and after shots. Before, in a sports bra and shorts and no make up, and then after 3 hours and 13 stylists had worked on her. it was called "True Thighs."

Glad to see this. I long for the days when no model is allowed to be retouched more than 5% (yeah, I get removing red eye. I don't get reshaping thighs!),. But every step in that direction makes my heart sing.

I find it somewhat depressing that Cindy still looks better, at 50-something and after kids, than I do at 35 with no kids. Ha ha!

Regardless, it's refreshing to see the photo of Cindy 'un touched'. I showed my husband whose only comment was "well she has had a couple of children hasn't she". As far as he, and I, are concerned she beautiful and that beauty is not impacted by her 'real' looking tummy.

Is it wrong that I was secretly pleased that my tummy is better than hers..ok so it's bigger, but it is smoother lol. Vanity!!

I hope the world is flooded with more and more of these type of pictures. I would have never know that Cindy looked like this based on the pics I've seen. We need more reality to take the pressure off. Sometimes I just don't think men know what women really look like.
Runcarla - I just love Jamie Lee Curtis too. She was my hero in 'Christmas with the Kranks' when she sports an ity bity bikini. So brave!

ETA: I spoke too soon. In Style mag has just informed me sexy-face has been deep sixed. Even Abercrombie has done away with the beefcake if not the Fierce smell. And indeed that was an old cover, so...
