The cicadas have emerged. It's really something. I am trying so hard to find it interesting, and not disgusting, but it's hard! They started coming out about 10 days ago, and now they're everywhere. This morning the sound is at a steady din. They're underfoot, all over the trees, and even cars.
These cicadas come out every 17 years. Last time, my boys were 5 and 9 and I thought that the next 17 years would be an eternity. Instead it was a blink. Not even able to think about where we'll be the next time they emerge.
