Chukka boots

I probably should have thought this through... I got a pair of what I thought of as chukka boots for winter but now I realize that I have no idea what to wear with them. I'm actually kind of new to the whole rolled-up/folded-up cuffs with booties as a whole (what kind of jeans work best? Boyfriends? Skinnies? Does it matter whether the bootie has a heel or not? I am absolutely without a clue) but these boots look too much like a men's dress shoe to wear with a rolled-up jean of any kind. Or do they? Should I just stick to bootcuts with these?

Munros tend to be super comfy. Those do have a solid menswear vibe to them, so I would try to soften with a more ladylike juxtaposition. Or, you could just embrace the menswear vibe.

If you like the rolled jeans look, you could pair with a particularly soft or feminine top half (like a peplum top, silk blouse, etc.) to balance the look out. These would also work well with skinnies that scrunch a bit over the tops. I don't know that you could really get away from the menswear vibe with these without covering them up completely, so I vote have fun with that side of it and either play it up with a boyish look or pair with a soft, glam, and/or femme supporting cast.

This is great advice! I love the idea of an out-and-out contrast. I don't have a lot of ladylike clothing (girly accessories, yes--clothing, no) so it hadn't occurred to me to really go for the contrast. And a feminine top will add something to my wardrobe that's missing right now, so your advice will help me out with even more than my shoes! Thank you so much!

I am so glad you asked this question. Every time I look at booties I gravitate toward the chukkas. I used to wear them in the 70's and loved them then. Just might have to try them again.

Thank you for educating me. I never knew what this style was called. I really like these boots. I hope you can make them work. I currently have 3 pairs of Munros since I find the brand to be so comfortable (but not this particular style).
