Christmas Office Party

I am going to a Christmas party. I use to wear a dress but it is not that fancy and it can get cold. I have red high heals that I want to wear. I want to look really nice, some people where sweatshirts and jeans. Not me. I want to look nice. But I have no idea what to wear. I also am not looking to spend a lot of money. Any suggestions?

You got taylored black suit but-not-really-suit trousers? Preferably ones that are tighter at the calf, to give you shape. That and a blazer that you got.. you could go black. Keep it simple. Now, with the blouse/top, this is where you nail it. Add that touch of colour.
Something casual, something glitsy, depends how you want to dress it. You can always dress up/down with jewelry and/or scarf... Hope that helps, and have fun at the xmas party!

You could wear your red heels with dark wash jeans and a dressy top or jacket for a festive but not overly dressy look. I think Angie has blogged about this. I plan to do this with a taupe sequinned top from Target last year and a taupe velvet jacket from Kat. This with jeans and red low-heeled pumps. In the past I've worn jeans with a satiny jacket in a burgundy/grey/black plaid or a red cowel neck sweater sprinkled with red sequins. Just some ideas for dressy tops.

Can you tell us where the Christmas office party will be held? At the office, a restaurant, a bar? During the day or evening?

It will be in the evening. It is also held at a casino/hotel. I would rather be overdressed than under dressed.

Thanks for all the great reply's so far. I am lame with clothes so if you have any suggestions on where to get these clothes, besides my closet. That would be greatly appreciated!

Your red shoes, a pair of dark Washed jeans, a white and black striped top (one you have, or check Old Navy to keep expenses down), a red belt (Target has them), a black jacket, and red lipstick.

Oh, good for you for wanting to dress up a bit. Why do people have to treat everything like it's a tail-gate party?
I love the idea of tuxedo pants, with a sparkly jacket if you want to go all out, or something more subdued if you want to bring it down a notch.
