How has your day gone? Please post your photos.

We’ve had a nice little festive day, in a relaxed kind of way with a hand of the Uno game from my son's stocking and now watching basketball after a salmon dinner. Our tiny place doesn’t have room for many decorations, but at Runcarla’s encouragement I put up a few. Thanks, RC!

Final pic is from my parents’ backyard this morning.

I hope you’re all happily tucked in with family, enjoying a cozy holiday and wish you ein guten Rutsch (a good slide) into the new year.

Aw, thanks everybody, for the compliments for my young man. He’s 18 and has a girlfriend, so I’m lucky he chose to spend the day with me and is still happy (sometimes) to be my baby.

Toronto, I bet the same storm hit you and my parents who took that pic in Ohio.

Kkards, I don’t celebrate religiously, but I like warm and cozy decorations. Of course, Germanic traditions of lights on a tree, etc predate Christianity here—I haven’t heard any “reason for the season” stuff.

Sounds like a good time! Love all the decorations; everything is very intentional and cozy. What is the frosting you are using for the cookies?

Thanks elpgal! Did you decorate too? I made buttercream frosting, then colored it for the gingerbread and put orange juice/peel in it for the cardamom. That made it a little runny, but it eventually set up. Cinnamon stars got a simple glaze of xxx sugar and lemon juice.

Love that blue star! Quiet Christmas for us too- just me, DH, and kitties We don't buy gifts for each other, but will choose things together. This time it was weights and other fitness stuff.

Only time in 55 years we spent Christmas home alone (except for family
Zoom and our cats.) Mixed feelings because I don't miss traveling at this time of year, but yet it's been a whole year since we've seen family in person, and it looks like it's going to be another 8 months at minimum.

Our indoor cats have never seen a real Christmas tree--we got them in 2008 and we are usually gone--so we didn't want to risk bringing a tree inside. We did have flowers and our version of holiday trees.

Thanks Angie! Those adjectives are right on point. We would very much like to see family again, of course, but the two of us do well together.

Thanks Suntiger! The star lamp is a mashup of a white star lamp from IKEA and a hanging star sold at Christmas markets, designed to go over a lightbulb. A special purchase together is such a good idea.
