texstyle, thanks for posting. I sent a few text messages, and am going to send a few New Year's greeting cards.

I think cards are great whenever you send them. We typically send about 100 photo cards over the holidays (very specifically HOLIDAY cards as I'm usually writing them on 12/24!)

We usually send out about 100 cards. I have to admit, I mostly send them because I love receiving them! We do the picture cards with a short year re-cap on the back. I do not hand address or write notes (MsMary - you are the queen!). It does get a little spendy and I keep thinking about cutting back but so far I haven't. I keep all my cards from prior years, hole punch them and put them on a circle binder clip. It's fun to look back through the years and see what friends and family looked like.

Gretchen, AviaMariah Thanks for posting.
I am reading both of you send 100 photo cards. That is great.
Gretchen, I think December 24 is a good time to get cards ready to go.
AviaMariah, nice idea to keep photo cards from previous years.

With so much to do before the holidays, Christmas cards have always felt like a chore to me, soooo....I've resolved the problem by sending out New Year's cards. I have more time to write more thoughtful notes after the rush of the holidays, plus you can sneak in a 'thank you' if that special friend or family member gave you a gift!

I send out about 50, and receive close to that. I send out photo cards and really love receiving them. It’s especially nice when older relatives send photo cards with their extended families. Not everyone is on Facebook so this might be the only update I’ll get all year.

Some years it’s a real chore, but I’m usually glad I made the effort.
