Windchime, there is no reason a middle-aged woman can't wear a choker. They are fab. I think the reason you don't see middle aged women wearing them much is because (a) they're newly trendy, and most of the cutting-edge gals I see are young; and (b) these necklaces really draw attention to the neck area, and this seems to be something that older women don't always want to do -- either because they are beginning to develop a "cordy" neck, or else jowls, and they are self-conscious. Neither of these things bother me, however, and I'd still wear chokers if I had a long neck like you.
Also, even if you're perfectly happy with your neck, I think they tend to shorten the neck area. This is why I've never been a huge fan of the thick black choker on myself, while I like the look on swan-necked ladies. I do find that a very thin choker is more forgiving.
