Brown is gorgeous on you, Tracey. You rock those earth tones.

Columbine, YES. And baby pink with brown was very popular back then too.

Celia, great bags can be very inexpensive these days.

I adore chocolate! Especially with black and cream. I've been adding some espresso accessories...

Beautiful featured brown picks Angie! You make me see things with a new eye!

I just bought a chocolate brown suede quilted cap and was questioning it. Not any more!

My mom had a pair of tall boots in this color in the late 70s or early 80s. I remember thinking they were SO glamorous!

Jenn, HIGH FIVE. My late Mum wore dark brown heeled boots in the '70s and I thought she looked sooooo glam.

LaCeleste, you're a honey.

Cerinda, exactly. Chocolate brown is nice with grey and white too. Warms it up.

I had a large collection of chocolate brown at one point. Now, I think I have some boots and a few handbags. I still love them. Time to dig them out!

Yay! I bought 2 pairs of chocolate brown boots just before last winter: a high shaft ankle boot pair and a knee high equestrian style pair similar to the Cole Haan pair. I was surprised at how much I wore them, especially the knee high pair which I had some misgivings about (it was on hyper discount and I couldn't resist). I also dragged out a few brown tops that survived the I-am-so-over-brown purge a few years back and really enjoyed them. I would love to update them now. I hope we see more at retail.
And I second Smittie's vote for faux suede brown pants

I've always loved chocolate. It's a great neutral for me. Indeed I have some dark brown trousers languishing in my closet. I couldn't bear to part w them although I haven't worn them in 3-4 years easy. I'm sure they're too big. Perhaps I'll find an up to date cut and replace them this winter. Hmmm.....

Love the idea of chocolate brown! Have to be careful not to overdo it. I'd be tempted to varnish my nails in it too...

Chocolate brown looks fresh to me paired with on-earth tones...White, blue ( from baby to navy) and turquoise, fushia and pinks, grey and black. It looks ho-hum to me with olive, ivory, golds, tan and beige. I have some pieces and like to wear it because my eyes are chocolate brown. Wearing chocolate as a column of color is such a nice change from brown.

Go for it, Staysfit.

Brooklyn, you are ahead of the curve, and look sensational in dark brown. Excellent with your complexion.

Rachy, off you go to the drugstore with Lillipup to get dark brown nail polish.

Joy, sounds like you've got how you want to wear chocolate brown sorted. I like it with toffee, white, citron, dark blue denim, and tomato red.

I love chocolate and anything that color and didn't realize until you wrote this posting that it's been missing from the retail world for a while. I just gave away some choc brown booties that had become uncomfortable, and wish I still had a velvet top that I gave a way a few years ago..it was choc brown with a few blush sequins and bell sleeves...would have been perfect right now. I got rid of it because I never seemed to want to wear it. Time to look for some new chocolate brown items!

I love your color choices Angie except for citron which doesn't work on me and I would also love a medium choc brown with black.

I do have a chocolate brown suede shoulder strap bag (H&M) I've kept for ages. It's a surprise it has survived all my purging and closet editing because it's been out of rotation for a very, very long time. I've worn it a couple of times this year, though.

I'm so drawn to bright happy colours, black and white that chocolate brown will be an accent colour this season. I don't know why, but feel dull in browns and earthy tones. I used to love those warmer colours.

I am a cool chocolate brown girl through and through. I don't care for reddish browns or cognacs but I love chocolate brown (particularly combined with black! except if they're so close they look like a mistake).
So glad to see that maybe brown is having a moment again.

Chocolate brown used to work excellently on me before my hair turned gray; I am still drawn to it but it doesn't work quite as well as before. Sadly, when it comes to Petite offerings, so often we are only given the *choice* of black. I will keep a look out now that you say it's coming back.

Hah, Rachylou, I had chocolate brown toenails for much of the summer! It's a fun polish color.

Yes, Angie, I agree! I fell for a pair of VERY full, drapey chockie pants this past weekend and, on impulse, they came home with me. They're ideal for my slouchy-statement work capsule, but I now have to figure out what to pair them with--especially as Suz and Donna make a great point about grey hair with chocolate.

Rachy--aren't there scented nail varnishes? Something scratch and sniff in chocolate?

I like gray with chocolate. Also pink, purple, red or burgundy.

Chris and April, I just know you look fab in chocolate brown.

Aliona and DonnaF, as I suggested to Suz - grey looks GREAT with dark brown. Add white and denim blue to cool things down. Go for it.

Harmonica, I used to feel just like you. Brown is dull. But I feel that way about the retail saturation of grey and black - especially in designer wear - that brown looks soooooo much more fresh and new.

I like rich chocolate brown shades, and I wore them about 9-10 years ago when they were popular (remember the trend of light blue with brown in home decor?). But I since let go of my brown items when they started looking dated or got worn out. I had a brown velvet blazer that I really liked, but the cut would probably not look current now, so no regrets about purging.

I wouldn't mind a little brown back in my closet now, but I haven't seen anything that grabs me yet.

Time to do a survey. For the first while after I stopped dying my hair I resisted brown, then warmed to cognac, and chocolate brown seems to be next in line.

I have the PG Willows in chocolate brown so I am happy to hear that the color is coming back.

Angie, I love the idea of chocolate with citron and all your ideas. I do love to wear a chocolate cardi and sandals with a tomato red dress and chocolate with dark denim..

I have quite a few chocolate boots, a bag and jackets that I'd love to wear more. I particularly like it paired with teal or marine blue. Hmmm, think I'll try that tomorrow! Thanks for the inspo Angie!

I love chocolate brown but have very few items in it. Last year I bought a pair of Aquatalia Rumbahs in dark brown...but that color doesn't appear to be available this year (?). I also have one scarf in cream and brown. Looking forward to adding more chocolate brown to my closet!

I love chocolate! Heck, I love ALL THE DARK COLOURS! Haha!

OK, but seriously. I had noticed that chocolate was coming back, and I am very pleased. It has been nowhere to be found for simply ages. I remember that one of the things my late mum and I agreed on was colours, and we were both fans of chocolate brown. She thought it was classy, and a little bit "different" (that's how she used to describe something unexpected, but not unwelcome). I used to like it with pale pink, or a medium heather grey.

Right now I've got very little chocolate in my closet, but I did wear chocolate knit wrist warmers this morning with my army green dress. Sadly, wrist warmers are not an all-day accessory; they come off as soon as you go inside.

I'll add a bit of chocolate to my wardrobe as soon as I see the right thing. I'm on a one-in-one-out rule, and my closet is full of items I like, so I'd really have to find something special to replace an old item.

I don't know, it always seems so dark to me (in a way that black isn't). I bought a chocolate brown drapey jacket, and it's going back.

It has always surprised me that as much as I adore chocolate I do not like the corresponding color. Simply, it does not make me happy (as does blue). But real chocolate does make me very happy! (By the way, I am Team Milk Chocolate - there is always a debate between Team Milk and Team Bitter).

I love chocolate brown. I have some chocolate brown items in my wardrobe that are getting on in age. They are simple in design so I keep wearing them. I have not seen much in the last few years in brown so the return of brown makes me very happy.
