After it's absence from fashion and retail for at least seven years - does anyone else think that chocolate brown looks REALLY fresh right now?

I've been drawn to it this season in small doses. Always been drawn to bright cognac because it's more like "orange-lite" - and I like orange.

My new fashion puffer has chocolate brown piping, which I LOVE. It looks soooo much more interesting than black, to my eye.

I loved this Longchamp bag that my client bought last month - and want it too. It's stunning in person.

I haven't been interested in tall boots at all - until I saw them in dark brown.

I have a chocolate brown skirt that I haven't worn in a couple years but I've held onto because it's flattering and an interesting design. Also, it looked great with tall boots, but my tall brown boots bit the dust last winter. Maybe I'll finally be able to find a replacement for those boots and also get a little more excited about my skirt.

Thanks for the fabulous Finds, Angie. I personally adore chocolate brown -- almost as much as I adore my black. I haven't seen too much of it in the brick and mortar stores yet, but I will certainly keep my eyes open. I have a few well worn (but not yet worn out) pieces in this shade (tall boots, bag, and bootcut dress pants) and look forward to wearing them again this Fall/Winter season.

YES, El Cee. Chocolate brown wardrobe items are usually quite old because we haven't the colour at retail for a decade.

I'm still holding on a to an a-line skirt which fits me perfectly. I'm hoping brown will come back soon. Meanwhile, I've been into cognac and camel lately.

i have ones similar to glynn without the platform in chocolate brown and they are pristine because i have not figured out how to use the boots. they seem too dark to mix with my black neutrals. i don't have a lot of lighter neutrals.

I have two old very dark bitter chocolate items I adore and have kept for years. One is a a Soia&Kyo thick wool coat I treated myself to for my 30th birthday and the other a pair of Italian suede tall boots that fit my skinny calves perfectly. The past couple of years I have only worn them a handful of times every season, but am inspired to increase the frequency of their wear now.

I used to wear a lot of chocolate brown back in the 70s. I don't so much anymore, but I do have a couple of nice vintage Coach bags in chocolate, and a couple pairs of boots and also sandals. I may try to put together an outfit.

I have some chocolate brown tall boots which are definitely back in favour with me and survived purging, and I also have my new patchwork suede booties with brown in. I'm not as fond of solid brown by my face, but in a print for sure.

I was *this close* to purchasing a chocolate brown puffer the other day, but I opted out because I don't have footwear that I'd enjoy wearing with it. I'm one of those people who doesn't love brown and black together. I think I love black too much for dark browns to play a huge role in my wardrobe.

I'll fess up. I struggle with this colour due to school uniform trauma and can only do it in moderation. It's sometimes allowed in my closet, but only on something really good.

I like the boots though.

I like chocolate brown quite a lot, and wore it when it was last popular. I agree it looks fresh again! But with my grey hair I think I'll avoid it or keep it to minimal touches; I won't work quite as well as it worked with the blonde. If I had brown hair or blonde hair I would be jumping at it.

Hooray! I have always loved chocolate brown. I have a handbag, a tote, a blazer, a long suede coat, tall boots, loafers, a trench and a rain jacket. Pre-highlights, they all match my hair. I may have to back off blonde a bit.

I have 2 pairs of chocolate brown boots - my Chelsea boots and the Danskos I just bought. I'd love to acquire some more chocolate items to go with them, but feel perfectly comfortable wearing the boots with either navy or charcoal gray pants, or with jeans. I use chocolate brown to bookend my hair color.

I love chocolate brown but haven't seen much of it in tops or sweaters - would love to replace an old chocolate brown cardigan I wear as a sweater on it's own.

Chocolate, as long as it's light enough to contrast with black, has been an outlying interest for me for several years. I think it "grounds" purple and burgundy quite well, and warms up black and cool grey. The big barrier? Most of the items I love require a serious budget set aside because they're in leather or suede. For example, the 30 year old me would have bought a black leather jacket, but now I'd love a brown one -- either chocolate or one shade brighter and warmer (not bordeaux).

hmmm, i just remembered i have a chocolate brown bucket bag that i have not worn because the strap keeps slipping of my shoulders. maybe i can figure out a way to wear the two (boots/bag) together.

Yes, suddenly chocolate brown seems like a rich sumptuous color to me.
I have kept some items with that color for some years and even today I have been happily wearing my tall brown boots. Maybe I will get some warm suede ones for winter ?
I also have my fur vest and a brown dress.
The bags you are showing are so beautiful. I wonder how a brown bag would work with my winter wardrobe...

I can't believe come back chocolate brown. I have been wearing them almost all my life. I don't know whether I liked them but it wasn't choice that time black and brown but when they are chocolate brown I was happy.

Liz, DITTO. Wore a dark brown and grey school uniform for 12 years. It DOES have its lasting side effects. Perhaps that's why I don’t like to wear dark grey? It’s DEFINITELY why I don’t ever wear woolly tights.

Suz, chocolate is GREAT with grey actually. You can cool things down with white. By all means keep it as an accent.

With my natural hair color being brown I've always been drawn to the color and am happy to hear that it coming on strong for this season.

I've hung onto my few chocolate brown items and would be glad to finally replace a beloved but tired pair of brown pants. When my first son was born, all the baby items were chocolate brown and powder blue. So chocolate brown takes me back to 2008.

I think you are right Angie ( no surprise there :))
I have been trying to use more navy blue as a neutral for winter with burgundy , teal and toffee, and my puffer is cream so brown wood be a nice contrast.
However I wouldn't like to spend so much for my casual wardrobe. Guess I will have to look out for other options.
