Here's the challenge:

My challenge piece is a cotton knit dress that I picked up at Kohl's today. Here is is styled two ways:

SUMMER

I will probably buy opaque gray tights and wera those instead of the leggings.

I tried a new version of the Fall look. I tried dark brown leggings, but didn't liek that either, so I ended up with my skinny jeans and bronze flats, along with a new necklace that I just bought.

Khris, What a fun challenge! I just love your style! The dress is very pretty and the color is beautiful! You certainly succeeded in bringing the dress from summer into fall, you clever girl! Great job! I think it will look awesome with tights, also!

I love the first outfit. As soon as I saw it I thought "has she lost some more weight" because you looked so slim in it!

But I am afraid I didn't like the second outfit. It is alright down to about the waist - the jacket and flower look good - but then it seem like there are too many horizontal lines, the bottom of the jacket, the hem of the dress, the leggings hem and finally the top of the boots. I am not quite sure what to suggest that would look better, but maybe tights and either higher boots or shoes would be a more streamlined look.

The 1st outfit is fabulous (i'm so jealous of the waistcoat over dresses, you pull it off so well i'm desperate to score a waistcoat so i can copy you) but i'm afraid i'm with anne on the second outfit. It doesn't 'flow' very well i think anne's right, too many horizontal lines x

Khris, great challenge idea! Your outfits are super cute.

I agree that your weight loss is more and more noticeable. Good job on all your hard work!

I also vote that gray tights would look better in the 2nd outfit, as you already suggested. What about black tights? That might make more of a vertical line down your legs.

I think I'm going to see if I can find dark brown full length leggings. The boots are a dark brown, and I think that will look better even than gray tights. I also think that I am going to change the flower pin out for a necklace, and maybe leave the jacket unbuttoned. I'll try to take another picture when I get it all together.
It's funny- I keep getting comments about my weight loss (THANK YOU!!!), and I haven't lost any in the last month (Ugh!). But, my clothes are getting looser and I've added time on my elliptical so I think I am just gaining muscle and losing fat. It's nice to hear that it is visible!

Hi CS,
I was just going to suggest dark brown tights for the fall look, maybe with some kind of subtle texture. Perhaps wearing the jacket open would create a vertical line to balance the horizontals you have going on. This look definatley has potential I think it just needs a slight tweak.

I love the first look, you have really made the dress, vest and gladiators look your summer uniform and it never fails to impress.

Love the summer look, and your second fall look is definitely improved! That necklace is really cool, and I like the jacket unbuttoned. I also like how the color of the flats echo the color of the jacket.

My only reservation is with the color of the jeans. Part of me wants them to be a darker wash (so as not to match as much to your dress), but part of me thinks it looks fine!

Khris, Just wanted to say that I am sorry I missed you saying in your initial post about getting grey tights. I like the dark brown tight idea even better though.

khris this second fall look is perfect. Ilove how the bronze works aginst your skin tone and hair colour and believe teal to be the perfect fall colour.

Your weight loss is astounding, when I was losing my baby weight sometimes a tape measure was more accurate than the scales. I imagine that you are not far of your target size now?

chewy, the dress is gorgeous!

i love the first look with the white vest and those funky sandals. for the second outfit i was with the others in thinking it didn't look quite as good, though i do love the blazer. i notice you put up a second picture, and that looks MUCH better, with the jeans and flats, though i would like to see perhaps a darker colored jean.

the dress is so versatile -- i can totally see you with a belted cardi, tights and tall boots with this -- and many other ways too!

Fabulous summer look, as always. I wasn't too keen on the first take on the fall outfit. I could see it working as and edgy outfit with a few tweaks. Now if I could only offer a few suggestions Fall outfit 2 is SUPER! I love how your necklace and shoes tie in so neatly with your jacket.

I'm glad that you ladies pushed me to alter the fall look.
Fall/Winter are not our dominant months, so I'm trying to keep my purchases for them to a minimum, and to get the most out of them. When I need the next size down in jeans, I will look for a darker wash. I got those ones cheap and wanted to try the look. Now that I know I like it and can wear it; I can be more specific.

Hanna- I love the idea of a belted cardi and tall boots with the dress. Unfortunately, I don't have either LOL

Roseandjoan- you're so sweet. I am only halfway to my goal (I'm down 50 pounds this morning). It's taken me a year to get here, so I'm assuming that there's another year of work ahead of me.

Love the second fall outfit with the jeans, and I agree, tights will be better than capri leggings for the fall with those short boots. It's the way it cuts you up repeatedly that doesn't work, but elongating your leg between the end of the dress and the top of the boot in one color will be perfect.

That jacket is FABULOUS! And you are looking very trim -- good for you.
