Chewed clothing - an acquired taste?

I recently bought some ankle chewed jeans, why? Well I loved the colour and fit (so comfortable) and for me, with two West Highland White Terriers, who are very much at my ankles, I thought the light distressing was charming. I also like distressing as a bit of a juxtaposition against my usual more formal style.

Ankle chew, definitely not for everyone, but I will give the look some love!

Taylor - I am lucky to work with these two gorgeous ladies.

Firecracker - the chewed hem is different. I felt that it gave the jeans a bit of a lace-like hem effect so it is fine for me. The coral dress is cotton, so an easy dress for summer days.

Jessicams - you LIVE the chewer effect, I take it that you have a dog too! My dogs have both been very good, Bijou, the Westie, only ate my Birkinstocks (well only one actually) - the chewed effect did not look so good on those.

Clever name and a great looking jean on you! They remind me of the damage from my bicycle when I was a kid. My pant hems were constantly snagging in the chain and getting “chewed”. My parents wanted me to use rubber bands around my jeans at the bottom but I never bothered so I had a RATE look. I also learned a lot about bicycle mechanics!

That color pink in your dress is very flattering on you! I really love this look. It’s simple, but very pretty.

Fashintern - It was a great night and fun to spend it with my friends. I have deleted the photo of us, as I was a bit worried that they may not like being on the forum.

Staysfit - I remember getting my hems caught on my bike chain too. I did not get my clothes torn too much, but I can remember Mum being a bit cross with me about the black oil on my clothes!

Ummlila - you have the best jean collection, so I am really happy that you like these too. The pink dress is likely to be a work horse for me over the summer months and just when I said I was done buying summer dresses...

Jane - Yes the museum was a fun building. The chewed hem phrase actually came from Mother Jeans, they call them ankle chews!

Bijou - you always look amazing! Love the jeans on you. I don't have chewed hems per se but the Madewell 9" skinnies in berkley have such a messy hem they look chewed!! Being a huge pup lover, anything related to doggies works for me! I like the texture of the hems. I actually like the artistically styled ripped jeans but I ironed white patches underneath mine so they would stay artifully instead of horribly ripped. I also love the juxtaposition of super dressy pieces with destroyed, I can't explain it but it does it for me. The dress is super cute with the boots, as I said you always, always, always look fantastic!!

The jeans are fun too. I wear released hem jeans that look a bit chewy. My mum always gives me a hard time about them but I like the RATE touch.

Angie - so glad that you enjoy the chewed hem trend too! I quite like how it gives a nice white lacy effect to my blue denim. So glad you like the pink dress and white boots, I wore them in honour of Friday's ensemble post.

Mirjana - I could see you in the pink dress and white boots, although your weather is now probably too cold for it.

Windchime - yes, the idea of wearing chewed anything is funny, but it does sound more interesting than ankle distressed.

Mainlady - I don't think this is a trend that will be really huge, probably a fringe trend.

Suz, thank you so much. As a complete boot lover, I can get most boots to work for me. I am definitely warming up to the idea of a western boot, preferably in white.

Cindysmith - we may have to shoot some holes into them and then they should be good to go. Nobody wears distressed skinny jeans better than you.

Brooklyn - The rebel in me kind of loves that my Dad also does not like my distressed jeans, he was worried that I could not afford to buy some new unripped jeans. He just shook his head in disbelief that I would buy them intentionally ripped / distressed.

Sal - yes I love the pink dress too, white boots tend to give everything a bit of a mod look, which has always been one of my favourite fashion eras.

Shevia - as someone who has endured real chewed clothing (curtesy of naughty pups), the artful chewing is definitely preferable to the real life version.
