I love the way they look with the jeans, especially the white ones, but anything that covers the black ankle strap. I feel like that strap is just too harsh on a bare leg and would look better if it were tan. (Haven't read the other comments yet.)

ETA: love the blazer. In total the outfit with the white jeans and the blazer is all kinds of amazing.

I love the fact that there is a Lord of the Rings reference on a fashion forum!!!

Does that make me a nerd? Probably, but I am embracing it!

OMG you look so gorgeous in that first photo! Seriously, what a fab look for you, just perfect.

The shoes are all kinds of amazing. And I really like the black blazer at its current length. I think it works well on you.

Did I mention how great you look in #1?!

I haven't read the other comments yet, but...

1) Your outfits are all so fantastic, I just want to wave my arms wildly and say "Claire! Over here! Do my curated wardrobe project next!"

2) RE: the pencil skirt. I found I don't like any of my knee-length pencil skirts with my nine west wedge sandals (they have a black ankle cuff) - and for my part, it's because I think it shortens my leg line. (Which is probably why they de-bombshell my shorter skirts and shorts). So maybe that is what you are seeing on yourself? Although I think the pointed toe of the Okala offsets that. I also wonder about tapering your skirt just a tiny bit.

Like everyone else says, you look incredibly fab and those pumps look like keepers. Is the heel too high for comfort though?

Chiming in here to give my 2 cents worth about the red skirt look. I think it's a proportion thing (and more visible because of the weight loss). The skirt and blouse both look like rectangles of about the same size that cut you midway ((when I measure, the skirt section is longer, but doesn't look it. Both are the same width.)

I think if you put the skirt up at your natural waist that alone will change how it looks to your eye. Then I would try it with a more fitted or tucked top, and maybe even a belt. Consider a white shirt, tucked in, with sleeves rolled up, or a fitted T or sweater--maybe even the striped one? Maybe it still won't work, but it will strike the eye very differently. And with these same shoes it might be more of the sexy-librarian vibe.

Plonk.

Must keep shoes. Yes the pants looks are better but I think the ankle strap in black works on your long legs wher it's more of an issue with us short/ legged mortals. Do it depends on how picky and whether you think you'll come across everything in one shoe. I think if I could look like a movie star today with those shoes, I'd cut the tags and make DH take me to dinner.
The thing about pants and those shoes is, if you like pants, the shoes have a great future with all sorts, not just jeans. Slouchy black pants !
Bookending with some more black in your tops could help, for skirts, plus try some of the other silhouettes as
suggested.
Maybe the tan strap is for your OTHER
pair of dynamite pumps!

So good to see you again, Claire! 1, 4, and 6 are my absolute favorites, but they are all beautiful! I suspect that a slight taking of the red skirt might be helpful, although, as I remember the seaming on these, that might be more money than its worth. A little (1 inch or 2) shortening and tapering might kick it up a bit, too.

I like the black blazer as is. It's good to have different fits and lengths in your closet!

Thanks for the great review of the Okala's

Claire you are killing me with your gorgeous looks. I cannot believe you pull these outfits out of your tiny closet! Anyway, on to the shoes. Well of course I want you to keep them so we can be shoe cousins, but I have to say I totally see Angie's point about the black strap bothering you as the reason you don't like them with skirts. On the other hand they look so perfect with jeans, and as you say, such a well designed pump (no squished toes!) is hard to find. Well I haven't read all the comments but I hope you keep!

So gorgeous...model-esque! Black jacket is killer. So many good comments so I will just add that when I tried on the Halogen pencil skirt in my normal size it looked not that flattering and boxy and I couldn't understand why. The sales rep brought me the same skirt 2 sizes smaller which sat on my waist and totally transformed the look of the skirt and was much more flattering. The larger size was fitting but sitting on my hips. If you have lost weight the skirt may be sitting down on your hips and that seems to change the whole look.

Love the shoes too!
Could be your waves are changing the vibe of the dress, and as you say the next one might be simpler in neck detail or pattern.
Both jackets are gorgeous.

Wow! Head trauma--I am dizzy and giddy at the same time! You look so fab, so chic! Those pumps were made for you. I like all of them including the dress and skirt! #1 and #5 are breathtaking!

Claire, you look AMAZING!

Now on to your outfits. #1 is headturning material. Definitely premiere-worthy. Love the pearls, black and boyfriends just as much so hard to call that.

The skirt... think Suz and L'Abeille are right. It looks big esp in comparison Nothing wrong with any of the pieces, per se. Just not working in combination. You want a longer, softer blouse or a longer more tapered or swishy skirt there.

If I may, I think the dress' pattern is fighting your gorgeous waves now...where it suited the sharp bob. Accessories that combine straight and curved lines... a jacket and pearls, pointy pumps with an u-shaped vamp, a structured bag with a curved line somewhere... could help.

#2 of the 3 posts I need specifically so I can see outfit #1 again. So amazingly beautiful.

I very much admire your thrifting finds and seeing them inspires me to continue the treasure hunt.

I am so happy this thread had resurfaced because I did not see it at the time it was posted. WOW. I am blown away by the amazing outfits you've created here. You have a clear winner in these shoes and they look perfect with every single combination.

Oh dear! You are so stylish, dear Claire. The shoes are fabtastic in all iterations, and I like the black strap on our lean legs.

Ok, so, first of all: when I'm your age (and I don't know how old you are, but it doesn't matter), I want to look at least half as good as you do.

And now: I LOVE those shoes.

You look gorgeous in every photo, I see no frump ??? And those shoes are just stunning

Yea, it's the return of WavyHairClaire!

All the pant-centric outfits look amazing with the shoes, and the length of the black jacket doesn't bother me at all with these specific choices.

Aside from the trench photos, the skirt/dress options are less appealing, and since I'm a big skirt/dress person I'm trying to analyze why.

In addition to the proportion and weight loss issues mentioned above, I think it may be that:

  • the red skirt combo need more black -- and/or less red -- to connect to the ankle strap
  • the print dress is pretty bold and doesn't have a lot of sex appeal; you're naturally elegant, and I think *on you* these shoes want to be a bit vampy...perhaps a bit more slink, madame?
I know all the pants/jeans looks are don't flash skin, but as someone else mentioned they *are* very strong, sleek looks that frame you with solids. I'd see if you can replicate that look with skirts or dresses and see what you think.

Photo 6 just KNOCKED ME OUT. Seriously, it's straight out of a fashion mag. This is how it's done. I don't know what else to say except that you look amazing. I want to steal your style right this minute. One of the best I've seen on YLF, ever.

You got me. I ordered them too so I could recreate a few of your outfits. The jeans outfit in 6 is outstanding and inspiring and I love how they add so much to the simple pencil skirt outfit (red skirt).

Oh, wow! Faints in a kitty print crash helmet!:-) The black blazer(and the white coat, too!) is perfection Caire, and the shoes, are...hm...extra gorgeous! Love them with all your outfits here, skirt, an dress-too! These are all so sharp! Right out from a fashion mag! Oh, and love the wavy hair! Faints again! (Those leather kneed jeans are superbly avantgarde (for me at least)-and would only suggest a belt for the white jeans, too:-)) How great you posted!

I love these with the jeans but not so much with the dress/skirt. Do you think the reason you may be "off" dresses & skirts is because they fell less modern & more classic than your pants outfits? YLF CC.

the jaw dropping and falling off the chair here is happening over Pic 6 (with 1 and 7 closely behind). absolutely amazing, Claire.

I have these in solid black and i think i need to take some photos in many outfits as I've only worn them once....I don't think they'll be a skirt shoe, based on what you have shown here, but wow with the pants and jeans!!

I absolutely love Pic 6, but you look amazingly stylish in all of them. I like that the ankle strap shows just under the rolled hem.

I will try to recreate this look with my pointy toe, leopard print, thin black ankle-strap wedges. Then I need to figure out where I can wear this outfit, casual easy on top, sexy wow at the bottom. What jeans are those, please?

Claire. You hit these out of the park!! Each outfit more amazing than the last. I die for number6 but all fabulous!! Can I be you!!

Maybe I should have looked at the pictures before I read your comments. I feel that maybe I was influenced by what you thought. So after much hemming and hawing here's what I think.

You look so chic, long, lean and model-like with the jeans, jacket Okala combinations. I think it's because you like them better and that comes through in the pictures -- you look like you are thinking I'm sexy and I know it and you would be correct!

I feel like the skirt and dress aren't as POW as any of the jeans -- with the exception of the trench snapshot but I think its because there is a low contrast long line created from your shoulder to your toe. This is just my two cents. But I adore that jacket in #1 is that the Celine?
