chartreuse pencil skirt: what to wear it with?

I feel a bit trapped here: I own an amazing Italian 100%-wool pencil skirt in chartreuse (quite bright for me - actually it's more vibrant than on the pic). Love the fit and the color! But have no idea how to make an outfit of it. I used to wear it with medium-gray turtleneck, it looked okay but perhaps too "safe".
I think it would look great with cream/ivory/pale beige, but the skirt is quite warm, and I do not own any warm shoes/outwear in such light colors.
I'd love to know your thought and get some style inspiration. I love that such a place exists.

My immediate suggestion: Wear the skirt in fall, with a brown pullover and brown shoes/booties plus a patterned scarf containing some chartreuse or a similar yellow-green tone.

If I owned this skirt I would be wearing it with emerald green, navy, tomato red, black or white. I do not own any grey tops. I have a few scarves that would mix well with this skirt, and these would provide an array of colors to soften the brightness of the skirt.

... And OF COURSE, you can wear the skirt with cream/ivory/pale beige. You don't need to wear shoes in that colour. Suggestion: Wear a top OR topper in one of those light neutrals, and wear a topper OR top in the colour of your shoes. Choose jewellery or scarf that echoes the colour of your skirt and one or two of the other colours.

How about silver? Navy sounds perfect if you want to go cooler. Shelia has some great ideas. Black and white or grey and white.

... Another option (I just love combining colours and creating "new" outfits): Gold or amber and a saturated olive green would look amazing with this skirt. Try, for instance, an olive green topper with a top in one of your favourite light neutrals, and wear a chunky pendant necklace in gold or amber. Finish the look with brown shoes, bag and belt--or replace one or more of the brown items with olive green. A braided belt, perhaps in two or more of the colours mentioned above, would look great.

I think wearing a sweater, tights and shoes the same color, such as navy, black or grey with the skirt would make a great outfit.

I own Boden pants in this color and wear them with navy and white, or with a strong red print that has a bit of the citron color in it. I wear silver shoes with the pants, though I think white boots would be good too. Have fun!

I saw a woman yesterday wearing trousers in this colour with a boxy navy jersey and brown boots.

I made a note of how great this colour looked in this combination. It’s not a colour I would normally pick and definitely not in trousers and she looked so good!

In the shops I’ve seen some fall outfits in lovely wool, chartreuse and bright yellow together! That would be FUN if you have the right coloring to pull it off.

I’d wear it with other bright colors—yellow, strong pink, purple. If that’s too much for a top for you, maybe a simple white/off white top and a scarf in those colors.

Navy, teal, dark olive, plum or dark magenta would be a great foil for the sour hue of this beautiful skirt. Use as a top, topper, or accents in accessories. I’d also pair it with steel gray and turquoise, coral and warm ivory, or a muted royal blue (French navy?) and slivers of Kelly green for more summery options. Again, what a beautiful skirt. Please post some pictures when you come up with some combos from your closet or shopping.

I agree with others! I really think you can wear the skirt with almost anything, any color. Since you like the idea of it with ivory, might you invest in white/ivory booties and wear the outfit in the fall before you need tights?

I especially like chartreuse with aubergine/plum and I'm betting you could find a scarf with the two colors to tie them together. Then you could certainly do black tights with black or burgundy boots.

As far as light colors to go with it, I have a scarf and a sweater that have this chartreuse color, and the white part of those patterns is “winter white” and not “ivory.” What I mean by that is white that’s been shaded with a little bit of gray and the tiniest bit of yellow, so that it’s less bright than stark white but not actually apparently yellow.

Try several neutrals at once. I have a cashmere sweater of a similar color and I often wear it with a tweed black/cream/grey skirt and a mottled, oversized olive green and black scarf, with suede black boots, and people love it. A leather jacket is good too; it takes out the "boring" of the straight pencil form.
