Charm Bracelets

Anyone here wear charm bracelets? Where do you get your charms? I find myself wanting to commemorate certain occasions or milestones with a new charm, but have no idea how to find them. I currently have charms for my marriage and children's births, as well as a few misc. others. Local jewelers have a limited variety.

I have a traditional, gold bracelet. Any charm must be attached by a jeweler.

I have a charm necklace that my kids got me from Wal-Mart. They occasionally get me new charms as gifts. You're probably looking for something a little higher class though

I've been eyeing Fossil's charm jewellery, but wondered if it would look juvenile on me...

Maybe they are just not in style enough to warrant a wide variety of charms. I am thinking of my mother's, which is heavy with beautiful, meaningful charms. But you know, nice jewelers still sell charm bracelets so you would think you could buy charms...

Brighton has beautiful charms, plus many, many bracelets, chains, necklaces, even earrings to wear/rotate them on. They used to be exclusively silver, but now seem to offer mixed metals. You can often find them on ebay as well.

I have 2 charm bracelets. One is a silver pandora and my children buy me charms for special occasions. They love doing this. The other is an antique that I inherited from my grandmother. It is all gold and I have never added or removed any charms from it. I have seen charms available for it as various stores.

I have a sterling silver gardening theme charm bracelet. I got the charms at various Celtic festivals. They are connected with split rings. You can see how tarnished it is.

I know Tiffany's carries charms, but also James Avery carries them.

I have a Silverworks charms bracelet from Belks. I have mainly pink and silver charms, but am starting to branch out to other colored beads and charms.

I have a Pandora European bracelet that I wear frequently..ohm beads carries some great quirky beads that are compatible with Pandora...

Fossil is great but I like my charms to be sterling for heirloom purposes. I usually find them in specialty stores on vacation or if I'm looking for something specific or vintage etsy or ebay is great.

I adore Tiffany and have many sterling pieces but I don't know.....The charms are not special enough for me to warrant the price.

I too have a gold charm bracelet and haven't purchased many charms lately since gold is SO expensive! Have you looked at CharmCo? http://www.charmco.com/categories/latest-arrivals/ I have never purchased from them, but looks like they have a lot of options.

Since the price of gold shot through the roof (though it is coming back down now) it has been hard to find gold charms in stores. I generally find the best ones through Ruby Lane or ebay. They are often vintage, but that means that they are a heavier gold weight, often have moving parts and are more intricately designed than the molded/stamped ones seen in department stores. They are worth the investment, as I think a traditional gold charm bracelet is a classic piece, whether it has one charm or a dozen.

Intriguing thread. I have a silver charm bracelet, that mostly commemorates a couple trips abroad when I was younger. I don't wear it often, and haven't added a charm in ages. I too have a few charms that have the spring clasp on them so they could be added/removed or repositioned without a jeweler. I've seen the Pandora and one other Pandora wannabe collection, although those are not charms, per se, to me. They're pretty beads, though. I like wearing my bracelet if I'm going for a classic style. It is a little bit noisy, so I avoid it if I have meetings, or I have to take it off or I find it is distracting to me.

I love my charm bracelet. Jewelers have catalogs of charms you can order, and also it's fun to add vintage charms. I get those on Beladora.com. Estate jewelry with great little charms.

Both DD and I have charm bracelets, although we haven't added to them in years. It's a wonderful way to commemorate special occasions. I found an old thread of mine where we talked about charms and some of the gals had some great suggestions about where to find them and how to remove tarnish.

Thanks everyone for sharing and for the tips on where to find charms. I did peek at Tiffany's online and OM goodness they are pricey. I would like mine to become an heirloom someday for my daughter to enjoy, just as I would love to own my mother's eventually. It's like a snapshot of her life....
