Tahari Several weeks ago I started washing and storing my cool season sweaters. Today I worked on jackets. I put the rain and puffer jackets in the hall closet for now. I can't remember the last time I cleaned and conditioned my leather jackets, but I suspect years.
I marvel at the luck in finding the black Tahari jacket on sale a decade ago. I inspected the lining and it was pristine. The bordeaux jacket is more lightweight and can probably wear it in the SF Bay area through summer. Perfect for when the fog rolls in. It is much lighter weight and shows a bit of wear on the front seams. I think they are called lapped seams--where the raw edge shows and the stitching is right next to the edge. The Bordeaux NAS cost 2 1/2 times the Tahari.
Next came what I thought was the wool Boden blazer. It's heavy and warm, but a check on the label says it's 100% cotton. A bit of sponging and the lint roller and it's good to put away. I also put away 3 pairs of heavier fabric pants.
I am so proud of myself. Of course, I haven't done a single drawer or tackled a single file folder--my true schedule for today.
I don't keep track of wears, but I now see the advantage of doing so. Also having some kind of a master list of what I have.
I believe I've never had so many individual items as I do right now.
Next the rings. I bought this turquoise and silver ring at Nordstrom a long time ago--maybe more than 20, and I don't think it cost over $100. The designer had a special deal--buy the ring, get a free silver and turquoise bracelet. I wore the bracelet a few times, but gave it away. I had to have the ring resized smaller. I really like it but haven't worn it much. It now doesn't fit the right finger except the pinky, and it's a bit too big for the left ring finger. Doesn't fit anything else.
I think this gold and pearl ring is either the first or second ring other than my wedding ring that I ever bought. Probably 1975. The gold on the back has worn very fine, so I don't know about stretching it out more. Exact same problem as the turquoise ring. I haven't worn either one for years.
What do you think of the silver as a pinkie ring? And the pearl? I don't know if it would be worth spending money on it.
#1 shows how the raw edge is slightly worn. Worth fiddling with dye?
That is Jett on her tower in the background of the ring photos. She is spoiled silly now and driving me nuts.
