Change room help: buy or leave ETA: Likes & dislikes

I'm looking for a super easy top (shirt or blouse) for MOTG, but would like it to go with super casual work days too.

It is more casual than i imagined in the first place, but it is sooo soft, easy and comfy.

I think i can use this to dress down a pencil or dressy pants + booties for work, or even over LBD. Jeans or chinos and sneakers/biker boots for MOTG. I could layer w blazer, cardi or v-neck cashmere.

I can tuck, untuck and halftuck. What do you think?

Are you at Gap? I ask, because I just bought three Boyfriend shirts (two fitted versions: one in white and one in neon pink) and a looser light blue one.

I like your ideas here, but I'm not seeing the color very well. What colors are in the plaid?

Vicky - no GAP store in my town and I don't remember which brand it was.

Zap & Vicky - sorry for bad colours in pic, but it is dark charcoal (or soft black) and burgundy/maroon. They are more vibrant IRL, though far from bright. Sort of soft autumn.

Hmmm, I liked the colours for autumn/winter wear, but quite different from the brights I've been wearing lately.

Well, it looks like a nice casual shirt that fits. If the colors and pattern make your heart sing, buy it! If you're not sure, I'd pass.

I can see it work really well as a throw-on-in-a-hurry-shirt and replace the tee's I'm so tired of. But it is not dressy in any way. I think the fabric is called cotton flannel

I would have prefered a more rounded hem - this one seems a bit straight - but if it's really comfy and you like the colors then it would probably be a great addition to a casual wardrobe.

Thanks Ramya - I'll go back today and see if I still like it. One thing I liked about the garment was that it wasn't too overwhelming for my petite size. Often this kind of shirts are too long, too wide or too overwhelming in general. Hmmm... need to do some more thinking, because I don't want to buy orphans

I agree... This is a new problem for me
Back in India I am the normal size :)... So shirts are never the problem... It's the jeans and trousers
But then there is free alteration there :)...

Thanks Racylou and Suz! I wanted to drop by the store and try it today, but unfortunately I didn't get the time. I'm still in a "holding zone" whether to buy or leave... very hard to make decisions these days

Likes:
- colours
- comfy
- easy (I know this is a grab&go item, but are not 110% sure of the style)
- waist surrendering
- goes with pants and skirts
- can be worn tucked, untucked and half tucked
- great fabric
- could be an update item in my gear wardrobe if I get tired of it after a season

Dislikes:
- not rounded hem
- not vibrant colour (but I'm obsessed with that now)
- price (a bit high when I'm not 110% in love)
- may get tired of it after a season

Kind of sounds like you might end up with a no buy. I want to say, be the picky shopper and look for a plaid top that has everything you want and makes you so happy you don't care for the price tag, and just wait until you see it come around. I don't follow trends though, so I don't know if it'll ever come around again, but it probably would.

That aside, it looks to me like it has a slightly *slightly* rounded hem, and it looks like the length of the hem is right (I'm no expert, but that's how it seems to my eye). It's not brightly colored, but the way it is now, it does look perfectly paired with the muted pink that you were wearing that day. I'm personally not a fan of bright plaids...it brings too much attention that a plaid should already bring, so I think the colors are okay as they are.. Makes it more versatile in my eyes because then you're not forced to wear only neutral bottoms to pair with it because otherwise ti would clash together and make a mess...

But take my opinions with a grain of salt. I don't know much in terms of fashion, but just wanted to throw my two cents in.

By the way, I do like that watch o.o

Thanks Carol for your insightful comment! I really like how you stress the picky shopper I am not looking for a plaid shirt specifically, and definately not a bright coloured plaid. Sorry for being vague.

What I am looking for is a top for MOTG that is more dressed up than a sweater or long arm tee. It must be washable and breathable, preferrably a shirt or blouse. This one just happened to be plaid.

I think I got a bit confused because the size is right, but I'm not totally sure stylewise. Either I'm looking for this kind of really easy, grab & go top or something a bit dressier, like in the direction of these blouses: http://youlookfab.com/2011/07/.....-the-glam/

Or I could have both styles?
