Change Of Silhouette...Wide Leg Pants!!

Hi Ladies,

Hope you have had a great weekend!

I'm back at work today so decided to break out my new grey jacket.

I have mostly been wearing skinny or straight leg pants these past months but I have these lovely drapey wide leg pants and want to get them back in rotation. I am hoping the slim-ish top with the volume below creates the right balance.

Our weather is still up and down so jacket came off once at the office.

Does this work? I love these pants but wasn't sure if the are "current"?

I think this looks wonderful on you. I like the way you've tied in the curvy flare of the pant with the slight ruffling of the top. Also, how you've picked up the cream of the shoes in your accessories. It's a great outfit!

It amazes me Deborah how you can wear skinnies and wide legged pants equally well! This is a beautiful outfit with a stunning silhouette. These pants need to see the light of day more often!

missvee, thanks so much! I love pearls with black and my large pearls haven't been out to play much over the summer.

Suz, the feeling is mutual I don't know about you, but I find I am a very visual person. I love reading the rationale for how everyone puts their outfits and ideas together, but I am really inspired by the photos. I can usually "see" straight away when something works but it will take me longer to be able to articulate the "why" it works.

Shannon, thanks for chiming in. I try not to be dictated to by whats currently in fashion, but I don't want to be looking 'old hat'. I am slowly working my way to SYC and I am determined to wear everything that is in my wardrobe!

The new blazer is fantastic with wide leg pants. The pants are a classic silhouette so keep wearing. I think it would be so boring if everyone wore skinnies all the time.

I really like this too. I find I am drawn to good proportion in outfits and it is most often what seems "off" to me. I really like the wide leg pant on you and the trim fitting jacket is the perfect partner for them. Really nice.

Who cares if they're "current"! They're fab! Wide trousers have become my new favorite look lately, and these are fantastic. I'd like to see a low-contrast belt over the top. I'd also like to see what this looks like with a top that doesn't cover the crotch area. The new jacket looks good! You thrifted that baby, if I remember right?

Aaah. That's my sigh of happiness at coming home to a silhouette I truly, deeply love and relate to! I love these pants and they are wonderful with the platform sandals, the jacket and the ruffled blouse! Very luxe.

I, too, love wide leg trousers, and these look magnificent on you! I do prefer them with the jacket. For some reason, I'd like to see a little more waist definition when you don't have the structure of the jacket -- not something colorful, perhaps just a black belt, or a blouse tucked?

Christieanne, how true! I do find it get very attached to a style (in this case skinnies)and wear it to death.

Thanks Dianthus, I am coming to believe that we can wear almost anything as long as we get the proprotions correct?

Isabel, you probably know I am short, so thanks for the lovely compliment. My sister is 6ft so you can imagine I often feel short and squat in comparison.

Jenava, so glad you say that. I don't every want to only wear things that are in fashion. I want to be confident to just wear what looks good regardless. I did try a slim belt this morning but it would sit properly, this top has a gather at the back and belts don't seem to sit well with it. I am probably to scared to try a shorter top! I have a tubby belly I like to hide

Fruitful, thanks It's a silhouette I like too when I get it right. I was inspired last night watching the Miss Fisher Mysteries (I think that's what its called) on tv. It's set inthe 1920's, she is gorgeous and wears these dramatic and drapey wide leg pants with more fitted toppers.

Beth Ann I may have to swap out the top to be able to wear a belt. This top doesn't seem to like playing with belts

Fruitful I love edgy, dark British crime shows, so the program is a little tame for me, but it is kind of 'charming' and i was addicted as soon as I saw her outfits. I can imagine drawing a great deal of inspiration from her.

Inge, the pants and top are actually black:). I was hoping the grey would soften the harshness of the black.

Kiwichic, do you have Suzanne Grae in NZ? As I recall these only came in black but I did buy them about 4 years ago. This style tends to come and go quite regularly.

This is a great look. I just bought a pair of very wide leg pants. I love wearing them like you have them here with heels. You have proven that with the right proportions, wide leg pants can look fab on us shorties.
