Challenge Closet Edit: Sweaters

Ok, it’s still October and I’m still at it. Slow and steady...tortoise vs the hare...etc

Anyway, I did already edit out 4 sweaters last weekend...really wasn’t sure why I had hung on to those.
This weekend it’s on to the harder decisions
Photo 1 are definitely going. Lesson #1 don’t buy grey sweaters, even if the are warm or a steal. Lesson #2, just because something was a workhorse doesn’t mean it will always be a workhorse.

I’d like some feedback on the sweaters in the other pictures
#2 is this
#3#8 same sweater...length ok? Used to wear this with a white button down under..any other suggestions? Is it ok to wear as shown?
#4 is it odd to have one thing that is a different color than everything else you own? This sweater is old and from a tube when purple seemed to be trending and it popped with black dress pants.
#4 color? Fit?
#6 not my usual style...
#7 color?

Boy I need to take inspiration from you!
I have too many sweaters but struggle with which I can do without.

Very random here and surely I’m not the arbiter of fashion, but...
The camel belted sweater looks a little dated, and is a LOT of camel and I think you have more flattering styles.
Not “ getting” the design of pale blue front-button one but I like that color.
The black(?) side zip is cut shorter but skimming short so is a good length for the new trend to higher waists so would keep. The green one also seems to fit well. Not a fan on the cream. I am wondering abou cool vs warm colors for you. At first I think warm but in these photos I like the pale blue and think the cream is too much yellow- cream, so maybe you have more cool tones or neutral?
Can’t tell about the purple long cardigan. Would you wear it over dresses? Maybe try other stylings to see if it looks fresh or if you just like it for cozy.

Don’t like #5 or 6.but I like the rest.well done you for tackling this,l have 100 s of jumpers and probably need to do something about that too.

My faves are 3, 4 and 8. I think the purple in 4 is in this year.

I’ve seen things on you I much prefer than 5-7 (my personal opinion).

I think you've made the right decisions. The purple is a shape that is good now and you look good in that colour. Those side zip sweaters can be useful at times.

Ok, yes, I think 2 & 6 really gotta go. The frou is not you.... while 3,4,7&8 gotta go because they have the opposite of frou.

Ahaha! I’m so difficult. I feel 5, actually, has the right balance.

For styling, I think the ones with ruffles could be kept if you wanted to try the “Victorian” trend. Maybe with a ruffled turtleneck or blouse underneath, or long dramatic cuffs.

The camel one looks a bit tight but camel is definitely in this year- could be more flattering worn open?

And the purple is a tough call- I also wonder about keeping things when they seem to be a one-off in my closet. But it looks good and the color seems bright and clear. Maybe try styling it with magenta or navy- other bright or dark colors- to see if it will come alive?

I like 3/8 and I like 4. I sometimes have one piece in a different colour - and wear them with denim or neutrals......Purple suits you too.

I’m with Sally. 3/8 and 4 are keepers.

I also really like the light blue button Cardi (6). I don’t think it’s your best colour (not mine either) but I love the unusual, artsy style. Is it a natural fibre? If it is, you might think about re-dyeing it. I just dyed a jumper my mum made for my husband (from lilac to blue) and it came up a treat. He loves it now. Please try it, I think it would be worth it. Or send it to me

For the others I vote pass.

Another vote for 3 and 4. I am on the fence about the blue one, I like the funkiness of it but not sure about the color. I definitely think it is OK to have only one item of a color, it can add pop to an outfit.

I like 3/8 and would play with some stylings of that. The purple cardigan is not bad either. The others don’t seem fab enough or quite like the style I see you wear.

EXCELLENT observations, kkards. I'm watching you with those grey sweaters, and YES - workhorses can fall out of favour. Happens to all of us.

#2, 6 and 7 - donate.

#3/8 - looks short. Could work for new high waisted jeans as is.

I like #5. But you have to feel fab in it.

I actually like 6. It’s interesting. 7 looks kind of pilled. I like 3. Ones that are snug I would donate.

interesting on the different opinions on #6 (light blue sweater)...I remember really liking it when I bought it because it wasn't my usual style, but I wonder now if I've moved beyond what ever it was that appealed to me....blue cardigan moves to pass/donate pile.

Angie...thanks...your challenge was exactly the kick in the pants I needed to get this done....feeling really good about it. I have to tackle the blazers and business casual stuff that I don't wear any more, but I've put that off to the end.

I love 6 as an quasi avant garde-dressier item- could be dressed up with a midi skirt (a dark one for more contrast or with a pastel one for tonal look).

I like 3/8 and 4. 6 is really cool, but you'd have to be "feelin' it". and it sounds like you're not.

My favorite is the purple, but try the shorter ones with skirts too. The belted one doesn't seem very current, though open and not belted could maybe work. The buttons on the blue aren't sitting right in the pic, and seem like too many/big for the space. Maybe try it open too?

Onto blazers & biz casual next. You are doing SOOOO well.

suntiger...the blue sweater is meant to have the buttons not line up and be over sized....
lyn67..like the idea of that blue sweater with a mini skirt, all the more reason for me to pass it on, as i don't wear mini skirts but this sweater should find someone who does....
