They arrived!
#1 is ASOS £30.00, it really is just like a bit of chain link fence!!
#2 French Connection (bought through ASOS) £28.00

I'm fairly sure I will return the white one, I can't quite stomach paying £30 for a bit of chain link fence which I could probably get from a hard wear store for a couple of £'s. I'm stepping outside my box with the gold one (not usually my choice of metal) but it really speaks to me x

I'm biased because I've not been a big fan of the white ones - probably along the line of your own reasoning. I do like the gold one, though.

I am with you on #2. It looks perfect to me! I agree that the price for the chain link fence is too steep, and it also looks a bit too bulky.

The gold one is fantastic, Louise, and it looks beautiful with the colour of your cardigan, and with your hair.

I'd be interested to see a white chain necklace with slightly smaller scale links on you. Go check out the hardware store;-)

I like #1 as well, but if it can be DIY'ed, go ahead make yourself one and keep your $$.

I do really like #1 and it sat on my ASOS wishlist for several days, then I saw chewyspaghetti's post and pulled the trigger. I don't mind the large size and I love the colour *but* it's just a length of metal chain link fence sprayed with white resin type stuff for £30!!
The other one is still £28 but just seems more worth the price somehow? I don't have a problem paying £30 for a necklace, after the cheap rubbish I've purchased over the years that I didn't love but was cheap I've decided that I'd rather spend £30 on something I love rather that £30 on several things I don't, but the white one is still just a bit of chain link fence and sadly I just don't think I can get over that fact x

Then, go with the gold, Louise; it's pretty on you and you can have fun making your own DIY project with a unique white one that's one-of-a-kind from the hardware store.

Call me crazy but I much prefer #1. It screams "Louise" to me - who is quite casual and stylishly fearless. The gold is also fab, but a little dressy, maybe? Not quite quirky enough either.

Not crazy at all Angie and I do really love it but I'm struggling to get my head around what it's made of, there again if I love it I suppose that shouldn't matter? Oh dear decisions decisions x

Can you keep it for long enough to get down to a B&Q first? I know exactly what you mean, as I think I saw some chain just like this in there recently when getting some DIY stuff - and it's not expensive. If you can DIY it, you get an awesome necklace and the satisfaction of (a) doing it yourself and (b) saving some money. That way you can have both.

PS - both of them look great so either way you're on a winner :0)

I like #1 as well - Kenneth Cole NY has a resin necklace just like it that I've been eyeing.

I really like both. I understand your thoughts re the white one but perhaps weigh up the cost and time involved in making your own and it may turn out quite cost effective to just keep this one.

I really like both. They are quite different. I have both gold and silver chokers. They go with different things in my wardrobe.

I'm one of those who prefers the #1 --- but I *do* feel you on how the price might pinch if you can't get past the cost of materials. No real advice here, except to second the DIY route and then decide.

I'm thinking I might just keep them both and accept the price as worth it for something I love. As Deborah says it may not be quite so cost effective to make one and as a grade A student of procrastination I can easily see myself buying all the stuff then never getting round to making one!! I'll have to make sure I whittle the cost per wear down to pennies x
