Celebrity fashion ads - YouLookFab Forum

Recently, there was a conversation about celebrities posing for fashion ads. The September issue of Vogue was full of them and I found a few really interesting.

Drew Barrymore for Neiman Marcus:

Drew Barrymore is my #1 girl crush and I absolutely loved this picture. She looks so warm and approachable, I want to buy whatever it is that she's selling.

Rachel Weisz for Bulgari :

This is a bit controversial because there is a live animal involved. There is another picture in the spread that I couldn't find online, where she looks absolutely breathtaking. I confess though, Rachel Weisz is another girl crush of mine.

Kate Winslet for St. John:

Even though I am a huge fan of Kate winslet, I liked this one the least. I don't think this photo shoot managed to capture Winslet's energy at all.

I like all these ads, Bella! I can't think of any others that I like offhand, other than Kate Winslet for Lancome.

I appreciate the celebrities modeling for ads because they are usually older than 16.

I saw a campaign for a Jennifer Lopez clothing line, maybe it was for Kohl's? It just annoyed me and made me want to avoid seeing more. Ditto for the Kardashians at Sears. Sorry if I sound crabby! I guess this is the potential downside of celebrity endorsements. The ladies you spotlighted are lovely, though, Bella.

Drew looks a. maz. ing. That long red wavy hair is just spectacular on her!! I would totally buy what she's selling!

When I look at the Rachel Weisz photo, all I can think of is the "sexy pout" post somebody linked to on another blog lately, and it makes me want to laugh! LOL

The Kate Winslet photo doesn't even really seem to look much like her.

I would not have recognised Drew, she looks stunning and so polished.

I'm unable to think of any recent celebrity campaigns which have caught my attention in a good way but I loved the 2005 Miu Miu campaign with Selma Blair and last years Burberry ads with Emma Watson.

I like the Drew and Kate pictures but the Rachel photo is too sexy face as MaryK points out and that bottle looks like a phallic symbol near her mouth.

There is a spread in Sept's In Style featuring Julianne Moore that I loved. She is modeling clothes from Talbots and it made me want to shop there for the first time, like, ever! (Pics #1 and #2)

There is another spread in the same magazine for Danskin. Hilary Duff, Jenny McCarthy, Padma Lakshmi and Christy Brinkley are featured. Although creatively the series isn't that great, I do admire the brand for using an ethnic model (Padma, pic #3) and an older one (Christy pic #4). The whole campaign is linked with different causes, which they deserve credit for.

The Kohl's campaign with Jennifer Lopez doesn't work to my eye, she looks great but the outfit on the left is a little street walker-ish. And again, that sexy face thing.
