"Celebrity" body type twins?

The other day I happened to spot Family Matters on TV, which was my favorite show when I was a kid, so I decided to watch and be swept away in time to 1995. I felt an instant connection with Michelle Thomas, who played Myra on the show. Why? Because she was petite (probably as tall as me, or maybe even a bit shorter), very busty, and curvy but proportional everywhere else. Sadly she passed away at a very young age, so I can't really use her as a style role model (and her outfits on the show were VERY reminiscent of the 90's, so I wouldn't dare copy them), but it made me think of this question anyway. I use the term celebrity loosely as a term to mean anyone who is or was in the public eye.

Here is the only picture I could find of Michelle/Myra that wasn't just a face picture. She was drop dead gorgeous. I was sad that googling her returned a result on findagrave.com

That's an interesting concept Maya. According to the book 'The Science of Sexy" my celebrity body type twin is Jessica Alba. I can't quite say whether that's true or not.

I haven't quite figured out who mine is yet, but my sisters are Cameron Diaz and Drew Barrymore.

I'm afraid I'm not so knowledgeable about celebrities and body types to have figured this one out for myself, but I'd love to know.

I've been wondering what my twin is, but my body shape is fairly unique, an hourglass with pear tendancies & a smaller chest, or a pretty pear with a strong shoulder. Celebs all seem to have tons of cleavage or totally flat up top.

I also loved Family Matters. I'm so sad to hear the actress who played Myra passed away! She was SOOO cute!

Christine, I understand. It's hard to visiualize because most celebrities have nearly perfect bodies. And most are considerably smaller than I am.
My older sister is very petite, but very pear. She has very small features but has big brown eyes like Drew. My younger sister is 5'10", very pear with a teeny tiny waist, and a smaller top half (very short-waisted, too...her legs go on for miles). So generally, they fit the type, but of course there are unique differences with everyone.
I could say I'm similar to Jessica Simpson, but it almost sounds arrogant to say that. Eek. I have similar facial features and coloring as Ann Hathaway.

Ha, I remember Family Matters! I used to watch that show too back when it was on. Actually I think I resemble the picture of the actress you posted - I am a petite hourglass. My dream celeb body type would be Halle Berry.

I don’t know Family Matters , but I do see a resemblance to your body type with the actress, Maya. And Violet as well.

I think you’ve done a really good job of your body and face doubles. I can see a resemblance to Jessica Simpsons’ body and Sarah – who does look a little like Anne Hathaway. Tanya and Jessica Alba are alike in body too. Patience, I don’t know, and as for me, I don’t know either.

Yes I know that this is a very old thread, but I think I have just found my celebrity body type twin!

She is Honeysuckle Weeks who plays Sam Stewart in Foyle's War, which has been around for awhile but I have just started watching

Any thoughts on who may be my closest equivalent to a body twin? They don't usually make famous people in my size, sadly, but maybe someone comes close?

Honeysuckle Weeks is a fabulous name. I have never heard of her before.
Anne it is hard to see her shape to see if it is similar to yours. I do love those heavy wool clothes they are both wearing in the picture.

Interesting! I can't say I have any idea who might be my celebrity body twin, but I do love Reese Witherspoon's style. So classic yet very fresh and inviting.

San - I am sorry that I couldn't find a better picture! I looked through 9 pages of google images!

It was through watching the show, and thus seeing her in action, that I decided she was my "twin". - She has a small bust, long waist and her width is in her bottom and thighs (Of course she is also taller and thinner, but that is par for the course with celebrity twins!)

Michelle - I'll keep and eye out for you, but I can't think of one off the top of my head. It took me 5 months to spot one for me, so don't wait too expectantly.

It is a good show BTW. A detective story set in wartime England.

Maya, you have definitely found your body double and she is so cute, just like you!!!

I have no idea who my own is, but I can tell you that when my DH and I first met, he told everyone in his office he was dating Renee Zellweger, and for eons my nickname was "Zell." This was back when Bridget Jone's diary came out.

Shiny! I cannot believe this didn't hit me until just now. My best friend also gets comparisons to RZ, and she totally looks like she could be related to you. Maybe your niece or something I'll have to look up a picture on FB.

No way! Shiny is way more beautiful than RZ. No comaprison. I do not think RZ has pretty eyes at all, and Shiny does. Why oh why does RZ squint all the time?
I couldn't believe she divorced Kenny Chesney. Talk about a cutie and a sweet man!

Hee, love this thread. I know it's old but I wasn't on YLF when it started, so I'm loving that it's revived now. Maya, I used to watch Family Matters every day after school- it was on before the Fresh Prince, and after Saved by the Bell. Hee, I'm just giggling to myself now.

As soon as I saw Shiny for the first time I thought she looked like Renee Z! Obviously much prettier, though- as RZ is actually sort of scary-looking now. But when she was a bit younger, softer and prettier (ie. Bridget Jones era), yes, I see a resemblance.

I don't think I look like any celebrity, at least not in the face. There is one model who I look like but I don't know her name- she was in a Chanel eyewear campaign a few years ago, and a girl from work found the ad in a magazine and brought it in for me. It was actually scary- this girl is like a composite of me and my sister. For about a year I had the photo over my desk and people who came into the office would ask me "Is that you?". Ha! "Yes, I gave up a lucrative modeling career to work as a production assistant here." ??? I took it when I left the company, I should scan the pic and post it here...

As for my body, I tend to think like Michelle, aka "they don't make celebrities in my size". In my dream world it would be Scarlett Johansson (I love her body), but in reality it's probably more like Drew Barrymore, that year she forgot to wear a bra to the Oscars... yikes!

all the magazines tell me that as a rectangle my body type "twin" is cameron diaz, but she's so long and lean, and not really my style. i do love rachel bilson's style, and as a borderline petite gal myself, i think she's got the playing with proportions thing down to a t.

Funny thread, I have no idea who my body type is but someone once told me I looked like Uma Thurman? Goldi Hawn also comes to mind as far as style, athough not so much as she got older.

i'm glad this thread popped up, i think it's kind of illuminating!

so doing a little research (google), i easily found my twins, i'm a claire danes/keira knightley twin... slim pear, with upper & lower halves that are really different.

Ms. Knightley has a wide-ish shoulders and a very slim upper body, but she is somewhat pear-shaped with legs on the short side. and when she gains/loses weight, it's all in her hips/thighs.

it's not exact, i'm more pear, but definitely similar.

it's also interesting to see how she often dresses in an androgynous style... which works ok for her boyish upper half but can look awkward given her more womanly lower half....

that is the exact same problem i always have... i'm a tomboy at heart, but i can't really wear boyish styles very easily.
i think pear works best if you're into being feminine... (i.e. 'pretty' pear)

Michelle Thomas (my BTT) was hardly a size 0. I'm using the word "celebrity" because I just don't know of a better word. I don't just mean those who are showing off their ribcages on the red carpet (even then you can find some variety--Kate Winslet is definitely as pear shaped as can be and a pretty healthy weight).

Whenever I am looking for hair or makeup ideas, I look at pictures of Audrey Tautou and Penelope Cruz. I do not look like either of them, but Audrey has huge brown eyes and Penelope has similar coloring. Recently I started looking at Freida Pinto too. It's not exactly easy finding people of my ethnicity who are big here, and using Bollywood celebrities does nothing for me...

Hanna, you reminded me of all the celebrity body type examples lots of style books use and how unrealistic they are for most people. I know I'm a little squishy through the middle, but I don't think I have a whole lot in common with Queen Latifah. I also have some hourglass tendencies, but comparing me to Selma Hayak is a real hoot. Maybe around the chest, but that's it :p

^ i don't relate to the way most bollywood actresses dress either, even though i think some are incredibly beautiful, tabu, kajol...!

speaking of hair/makeup inspiration, have you seen any photos of priya kishore? she is a stylist or some kind of fashion person who has been getting a lot of press recently. i saw her in mumbai this year and she looked great, she also had an amazing haircut, i was blown away. maybe you can google a photo...

Starry, are you Indian? I believe Priya was photographed by the Sartorialist! His batch from India was one of my favorites. She was STUNNING if she is the one I'm thinking of. I actually posted a picture here and Angie was very impressed with her dress. There was another Indian girl he took a few snaps of...but I can't remember her name. Anyway, her outfits were totally adorable...but not something I could pull off myself.

I sense a lot of sameness from Bollywood celebrities. All have long hair and seem to wear a LOT of makeup. No doubt many of them are incredibly beautiful, but not really what I relate to. I've ranted and raved about this before and it ended up being a bit of a debate, but I typically do not prefer Indian women (who live and are born and raised in India) in western attire. They are usually so well versed and knowledgeable about their native garb and all the trends and styles related to it, but often completely clueless about western fashion. It just doesn't make sense to me to wear something you know nothing about--which is why I don't wear Indian clothes! Of course, that is a generalization and there are exceptions.

i think priya kishore is an inspiring example of someone with great personal style.
i wonder if the other woman you're thinking of from the sartorialist photos in delhi is the same one i remember... she was wearing white eyeliner in one photo, which i loved.
