Today is my 23rd wedding anniversary and we have plans to go to dinner at Ruth Chris Steakhouse and then to a show with IOAN, a celtic music group.
We got married when I was 25 and he was only 22, after knowing each other for less than a year. Everyone in our generation was inspired by us and could see our love for each other, while our parents generation all thought we were acting too quickly... We both just knew and had no doubts....
Boy have we come a long way! Like most people there have been many challenges that have come our way and somehow we remained in tact. I think the funniest thing was when we remolded our kitchen and were asked by other couples how we agreed on what to choose, and we couldn't understand the question....Apparently fighting over this subject is common.... I would attribute our success on both being determined that this was a marriage of a lifetime and being really good forgivers...A sense of humor and being able to laugh at yourself helps too!!!!
I am so grateful to this amazing man for allowing me to be a stay at home mother and letting my mother move in with us when she was sick. I am grateful that he loves his children and has unique relatioships with each ot them. I am grateful that he is a romantic and loves surprising me and not just on special occassions. I am grateful that he supports all my adventures from doing craft shows years ago to opening a consignment store, and most recently my blog. I am grateful that despite his misgivings he backed off and allowed me to homeschool our youngest. I am grateful that he thanked me for standing strong and homeschooling. I am grateful that he notices my outfits and compliements me regularly. I am grateful that after all these years he still looks at me with wonder and amazement. I am grateful for all the years we've shared and for those ahead of us....
Now if I can just figure out what to wear tonight and ignore the sinus issues, time to take meds and go play in my closet...
