You look fabulous in those dresses - and one of these days, I am going to be seriously tempted to ask you to pick out a bunch of dresses for me!

In terms of being 'caught' - I finally worked up the nerve to take some pictures last fall, when I bought a few coats during the Black Friday sales. Turns out the front porch is the best place to take these kinds of pictures. I live in an old Victorian style house with a giant verandah. My husband gets the fancy camera out, I pose at one end of the porch, run in and get another coat to try and pose again. The goal is to finally post a picture for YLF - and ask for some 'keep or return' advice on the coats I bought.

But um...somehow...a bunch of little kids congregated on the sidewalk right in front of my house, thinking this was some sort of big deal or something. I wanted to *die* of embarrassment. You know how people sort of 'gawk' almost helplessly at the scene of an accident or something like that? It was just like that. Next thing I know, there are at least ten little kids ...hanging out on my front sidewalk. All wondering what's "going on". GAH.

I didn't like the pictures, never posted them, and returned the coats. Never tried the picture-taking thing on the front porch again.

Marianna, you know, I didn't even know that it WAS a hi-low hem until after I'd worn it for a day, and then I looked at myself in the mirror from the side. The trend surprised me! The Vince Camuto dress (the purple one you saw over the weekend) has a more exaggerated hi-low hemline if you want to try that too, but I'm very glad to be dress twins with you.

Oh goodness, VC, that would make me camera-shy too! Ack. Being kids, though, they probably thought there was something extra special going on - maybe you're a celebrity in disguise?

Your giant front porch sounds lovely.

I have no idea what happened, just that it turns out there are lots of kids around, and they are very curious about anything/everything that might be going on.

But yeah, I did feel totally awkward!

Kari you look great! I especially love that green dress. As to taking pictures...my little guy doesn't think anything of it now, but the reason I rarely take weekend shots is that I always feel self-conscious taking pictures in front of my big guy!

Hey, on a similar note, Alison Gary on Wardrobe Oxygen very recently posted an explanation of why she style blogs. Her post was sparked by a nasty (uncalled for) comment someone had left, but I love how Alison phrased her thoughts on why she had chosen to put her style in the public eye for as long as she has. It's a good read. http://www.wardrobeoxygen.com/.....s.html?m=1

My favorite part: "I take pictures of myself because I am not perfect. I share my daily outfits because there aren’t enough examples out there of women who are not a model size, or model height, or have a model face who embrace fashion. I take these pictures to show you don’t have to be any of these things to have personal style, to have fun with fashion, and feel beautiful."

Kari, I love your outdoor photos with the natural light, because they display your outfits and the colors so well. I haven't been "caught in the act" yet, because I generally take one of myself (with phone on my music stand) in my bedroom, but I have been experimenting with different areas in the yard, with little success, since the sunlight can be rather severe. Your lighting is just right for a photo shoot!

Now, for those dresses...I love them both and you take "casual" to another level. The blue and emerald was a heart-stopping one for me and I love the way you've added the denim jacket with the yellow accessories. That yellow bag, in shape and color is exquisite.

Kari your fabulous dresses inspire me to wear my (very few) more often! I ADORE the aqua pumps and yellow purse with the scribble dress, so so fab. And the denim jacket is perfectly cheeky with the chevron dress. Have you worn that dress with your orange pumps yet? I am totally digging green+orange these days.

Have I ever been caught? Well most days I'm in my very private and secluded back yard so gosh I hope not On sunny days I take photos in my driveway, and I am sure plenty of neighbors have seen me but it doesn't bother me at all. We also have a security camera on our front yard/driveway so sometimes my husband teases me since he can see me running back and forth taking the pictures while he's at work ^^ I've had him take photos in public places plenty of times, and that doesn't bother me either. If you look comfortable about the whole thing, people tend to be less interested.

Vicki, sounds like you need a tripod! I like the ingenious solution of having a music stand, though.

You are so sweet. I love that emerald dress, too - I think my heart skipped a few beats when I first saw it!

Aida, I THINK I wore this dress with my orange pumps to the YLF photoshoot, if I'm not mistaken. Will have to revisit our photos to check! Your husband's reaction is cute. I think B. finds the habit mildly annoying but doesn't tease or berate me about it - it's just not his thing.
