Catchy outfit for a spring dance

I heard that bright red is bold and catchy. I am attending a spring dance / party and I was going to go for a bold yet stylish outfit. Does this red on black look do the trick?

Are you thinking of doing the boots too? I love red and black personally. The dress is great, but I feel like the boots make the outfit less fancy, less spring dance...

It's a great look. The boots do dress down the look - but that could be a good thing.

It looks great but the boots don't say "spring" to me - this is more winter festive. Of course it may be indeed cold where you are so that would make a difference.

Thanks for all the informative replies! Rachy, yes, I was thinking of including the boots with the outfit. Texstyle, the weather isn't so cold that I must have the boots, I thought they were more of an edgy fun accessory to go with the red dress. Something to help spice up the outfit and it matches well with the black bag.

Now I am thinking ..... are these leather boots too much? Hmm. ....
