Casualizing wool take 2-- flannel love

It's official 1: you ladies are style geniuses
It's official 2: I found a flannel shirt I love and want in wholesale amounts

Wish I had access to a full length mirror but I am travelling so no luck. One of your suggestions was to try flannel with my dressy wool pants.until I found this shirt at target I failed to find a flannel shirt that I really liked. This one I adore; still feminine in cut, buttons go half way down so a bit blouse more than shirt, and a color palette I dig. So here's what I wore flying to visit family today!
Flannel plaid shirt, merona, target
Navy wool wide leg jcrew pants
Not seen-- brown low heel booties
Overcoat was a jcrew brown houndstooth coat

I felt great travelling in this plus the button top allowed me to discretely nurse my 7 month old in the airport. Thanks for the suggestion ladies, I'm a convert!

That is gorgeous plaid!
I think it works much like the denim or chambray shirt, would with something like black dress trousers, the way I tried to do with a pencil skirt--just the right amount of juxtaposition. Here the colors of the plaid are just delicious with the navy.
I want to do the same! But also, you've inspired me to do more with my pencil skirts. I don't collect a lot of dresses, but I want to get more wear out of my skirts and tights for not-work . Fortunately I already casualize ( "de-bombshell", though that doesn't exactly apply to me!) them a bit for work, but for non-work I can go further (think sweatshirt, denim, graphics, and flannel plaid as you have done, casual booties or layers, vests, cable tights)
