Casual summer dress collection

I love casual summer dresses for my casual lifestyle. I run much warmer than Angie in our Seattle climate and am almost never in AC. I'll throw on a short cardigan for mornings or evenings.

The only addition this year is the EF denim shirtdress, which I've worn several times. It's my first without waist definition which I've always disliked on me, but this lightweight 63% Tercel, 37% cotton
denim has a nice drape that magically works.

When I'm not in flip-flops or bare feet around the house/home office, I'll most often choose block-heeled sandals, as my feet want to be open and free in the summer.

So happy in a casual dress in summer!

The no waist definition can be sometimes hard to adjust to I agree - but with the right drape and cut of dress, it can also be liberating + cooler too.

I, too, enjoy your capsule! I found with straighter cut dresses, that you can take them to Superb Custom Tailors (or your favorite) and get them shaped a bit to your figure. I feel more confident with even a tiny more awareness of a woman shape. I carry my extra weight - even the first five pounds - right at my waistline; fitted sheaths are not flattering as I don't have the confidence to pull those off. Having some darts or shaping in the back added to a straight cut dress customizes the fit.

I am going to stalk that EF dress. Question: it says the color is midnight, which is a dark navy but this does not look like a dark color in the picture. Is it darker than shown? I have a different midnight EF dress.

Hi, Joy! Yes, the denim is dark--maybe darker than pictured. Here it is pictured IRL (first WIW!). I just noticed the same cut is available in striped cotton for a lighter look.

I'm a huge fan of summer dresses and sandals, and love your collection! You've got such a nice variety of colors and styles in the dresses, and both pair of sandals are good-looking, too. Just a perfect little capsule!
I do wish you had been just a little less enthusiastic about the denim EF, though. I've been eyeing that one for weeks, and seeing how great it looks on you is testing my resolve! LOL!

Ha ha ha, Ryce! I've worn it over slim pants, wide, cropped denim, layered over a striped top, and worn open as a long topper -- which I plan to do into fall. It looks as polished with my block heels as it does with $2 flip flops. Roomy enough so the buttons don't gape when seated, and minimal creases. Sorry, but this EF dress is pretty great.

I also own the EF dress and just adore it. I've worn it over a short-sleeved tee and also as a vest with jeans, like Murph has done. Just a great, versatile dress. Super cute and summery with flat sandals. I consider it one of my best purchases this summer.
