Taylor, I don't mean trappings in a negative way - perhaps "indicia" or "secondary sex characteristics"? Short hair obviously can be very feminine too - look at gorgeous you, Angie, and others here! I am just so curious about seeing what crosses the lines and why. QM mentioned Ellen Degeneres as a masculine dresser, so if she were wearing this outfit (no make-up, short hair, known sexual preference), would that make the difference?
I can't tell you how fascinating I find this discussion and how thankful I am that there are people here willing to pontificate with me! I have this same discussion about what it means to be "Indian". People are always surprised to hear that I'm a hard-core climber and mountain biker, because that's not their stereotype of an Indian woman. My response is, "If *I* do it, then it's an Indian woman thing to do!".
So does the same hold true here? If a woman is wearing it, does it automatically become a feminine thing to wear?
Now you know why my husband begs me to shut up at night...
