Caro made me do it...the big edit and catalogue begins

Caro, you hit a nerve with me and I am mid purge. Wil is hard at worth helping me out as you can see! I have also downloaded a cataloguing system and entering my clothes.

Some of my key learnings from your post:
joy per wear
outfits not orphans (sooo insightful!)
the dress and sandals have to stand on their own for our long hot summers.

I will deal with cpw when I get this mess sorted in the next few hours...
And hopefully post some favourite outfits.

Any other suggestions most welcome.

It's a big accomplishment for sure.

My husband and I had a little mini local vacay for our anniversary this week, and we looked at a few gorgeous condos in our beloved city (half hour away from the woodsy location where we live now). We started fantasizing about downsizing and simplifying and moving to one of these amazing places where we don't have to mow the lawn, shovel snow, think about roof repair, etc. And I looked at the reduced storage space thinking that's what I'll need to work towards in 5-10 years. So maybe I'll learn to edit more in the meantime!

I just noticed both you and Caro are in Australia where (obviously) it's winter. This past winter I didn't go through my wardrobe and purge because we were remodeling the bathroom and had moved out of the master bedroom. When we moved back it was springtime. Consequently, my closet is bursting at the seams. I wonder if this a winter activity..

Ha my husband was right... i have gone back to work today with the giant pile of offcasts still in the hallway. I need to get enough light to get pics of my travel wardrobe for next week which just emerged when the clutter was moved away.

I know well the danger of projects spilling into the hallway! It sounds like you're being the boss of your closet, which is awesome.

My only advice? I'd keep a bigger "holding zone" in a large cull. When i do something like this, I keep the items I remove for a month or two in a separate box. I donate anything I haven't pulled back out during that time. My longer term holding zone is one large storage tub --- and I have to make room for new items, by donating older things.
