Cargo skirts/shorts/pants - out?

I know men's cargo shorts are going strong, but I'm talking about women's styles. I find I'm not reaching for my cargo skirts and recently purged both my cargo cord skinnies and shorts. Is this a personal shift or do you think they are on the outs right now?

yay - definitely so last year (or the year before the year before that, ha!)
nay - a basic (that is just not cutting edge)

I do not think they are out. I think Angie had some cargo skinnies on her blog a short while back..maybe it was last fall and they are out now. I have 2 pairs of knee length that I will wear until they wear out,,but then if I like something I keep wearing it, along with wearing current trends. To me,___ and this is just me< ___the expression "that's so last year" sounds so high school!

I really like cargo and I'm not much of a trend person. I say if you don't reach for them donate them.

No clue whether they're in or out, but I'm not reaching for mine either. I think maybe it's because I'm loving the fluid tops. With volume on top I tend to want something sleeker on the bottom than cargo pants.

I love my cargo capri's and shorts from the Loft last year. In fact, I have a pair on right now. But, I like roomier bottoms in shorts, so they will stay in my rotation until they are too worn to come out and play.

I don't think they are really "out" necessarily but I feel like I've lost interest in the sort of military/safari vibe of cargos and utility jackets as of late. I still wear olive colored pants and shorts, just not with cargo details.

I vote a basic. I still plan to wear some knee length dark gray ones I have. DH was walking around in long black cargo shorts, a black tee shirt and mirrored sunnies yesterday and I was hard put to leave him alone -- I love the look on men.

I bought a pair of Rockstar cargo skinnies at Old Navy this spring, so they are somewhat current. Military designs are part of my core style though.

Wish my cargo skinnies hadn't died, I would still like to wear them on weekends. But I am not dying to replace them... so maybe that is telling for me...

Hmm they don't really seem to go away, do they? I feel like there are cargoed bottoms available every year. I have a couple pairs of long slouchy shorts that are cargo, and am happily still wearing them.

Cargoes with flat pockets are more current (or less dated - glass half full or half empty?) than cargoes with three dimensional, functional pockets that stick out. With the flat pockets, it often just looks like zipper detailing on the pants (especially if the fit and length of the pants is more current), which is a look I rather like. However, there aren't a lot of them in store, so they certainly aren't "trendy". I think they are a standard basic by now that never really goes away/

A little bit hard for me to vote, because I think both are true statements. I went for being the one lone *yay* voter.

I will say, tho, I'm seeing a lot of them in stores.

I think Echo is correct. I certainly feel that army green or khaki shorts/skirts/pants are everywhere at the moment, but a lot of them have flat pockets.

I personally still like proper cargo pockets, and have a pair of shorts as well as a skirt with cargo pockets that I wear often, even though I purchased them both quite a few years ago. My "cargo" twill skinnies -- well, slouchy skinnies -- were a more recent purchase, and they don't have proper cargo pockets on the outer thighs. They are military green, though, and have the army surplus vibe.

Basic for the most part. Safari/ nautical/ military styling to clothes usually never Really goes OUT but retailers will do stronger sales pushes of This Is THE newest latest yadda yadda whatever and not push next year . This year we have ooooodddllles of navy in stock = nautical days are big. Last year Olive was a fairly strong neutral + safari / utility jackets and cargos.
Wonder what's next Asian detailing ( mandarin collars and cheongsam styled jackets and blouses? With dark plums and ambers?Basing my guess on the idea that only One dark neutral aside of black seems to dominate the fashion marketplace. And usually there is a big trend influence too. I could almost see a dart board for a design house with the big trend choice posted up to be chosen blindfolded.

I think of J Brand when I think of cargo jeans, they came out with the Houlihan in 2009 or 10 and they've been coming out with a version ever since. It's sort of a classic thing almost. It's not the biggest trend at the moment but every year designers come out with cargo themed pieces it seems. So it's not a peaking trend right now like boyfriend jeans are, but it's not dated either.

ETA - I forgot to mention, I have a pair of cargo shorts that I love. I can't wait to pull them out again this year.

I have tried to revamp my old pair of skinny cargos by rolling the hems at the ankle, an it has worked. True, pockets are still the old fashion ones though.

I echo Echo. I have a pair of "refined", flat pocket cargo pants that I bought 6 months ago and luckily I have worn them a lot. They had better not be "out" as I paid a fortune for them, they are the most comfortable pants I have ever owned and they will be going to Europe with me shortly.
