I bought a new pair of cargo pants and am feeling "out of sorts" with this new look for me. I think I am caught between my old look (and of course I am older now) and having a new updated look incorporating new trends. As Angie says, change is the only constant in life. I want to embrace change, but at the same time I am not feeling fab with this change.

1-6 These are pictures I took myself with no one home except me and kitties
7-8 My husband came home and he said he thought these cargo pants would look best with blue, so these are his suggestions.
9 is bonus kitty pic. Hmmm, maybe one of these cuties would be a good accessory with my pants.

I am not feeling fab in any of these pics.

I like them with the plaid! Not so much with the voluminous gauzy scarves, to be honest. I think the moto can work well but without a scarf. The pants look great on you… I like the belt.. just a matter of figuring out the styling I think.

I know exactly what you mean, I tried on a few cargo pants last week and although some seemed to fit nice, it just didn’t quite feel like they were for me.
Your cargos do look very good, but maybe it just takes time to get used to this new look and some more experimenting to figure out how best to style them.
Btw those kitties are too adorable!

Well, I think you LOOK fab in all of these. Maybe just keep putting them on and playing around for a few days and see how or if your eye starts to adjust to the new look? Ultimately, of course, it's all about how you feel....

Don’t give up! You can wear these cargos.

#1 if you are going to wear them with the dark heeled footwear (booties) you need a little structure around the ankle to break things up (see photos below). Keep things sleek by bookending the dark footwear with a dark top. Open up the neckline with a V neck sweater or T. You could juxtapose the casual vibe of the cargos with those dressy heels and a silky dark button down, too.

#2 keep things casual and loose with the white sneakers and white top. Set the scarves aside (they choke up the look) and keep the neckline open. Maybe some layered gold necklaces if you feel too bare, but nothing too heavy. Scrunch the long sleeves. Top with a short indigo jean jacket.

I like #8 the best, but would like to see the sleeves rolled or scrunched, and chunkier, grounding footwear. You could try leaving off the belt, and tying at the waist.

Also, check how they were styled in the product photos and see if you can style similarly from what you have in your closet.

Maybe a bit of a challenge because they're a different style in what appears to be a stiffer fabric and fairly straight from the hip.

I would definitely wear them but I would expect a break in time of wash and wear, much like jeans and I would not wear them with a significant heel.

The pants are great and fit you well, it is just the matter of styling them.

ME+EM brand, whose styling I really like, recently sent an email with styling suggestions for a similar pair. I saved it for reference as I hope to find my version of these later in the spring. Their suggestions are shown in the photos below.

I like them! Try Runcarla's styling suggestions and look for other inspo pics and fool around in your closet a bit more. This will give you a sense if you can wear them comfortably with things you have and whether they stretch or bother you during try on sessions.

Honestly they look really good on you. My favorite is #8, but none of these look bad to me. Why do you feel unfab? Is it this exact pair, or the whole idea of cargo pants?

I like those on you and agree with playing/styling suggestions as already mentioned. Blue denim jacket would add structure.

I am sorry but I vote return. These pants look stiff and too large to me. I think that there is something better for you. I suggest to try other pants until when you find something that makes you feel really fab. If you are not convinced, you will not wear them (I know for experience ) .
Haha, cats are the same all over the world. Give them a box and they will immediately sneak into it! Those two are adorable !

I like them. It might be you’re not used to the silhouette And they just need to be washed a couple of times for you to like them. I vote keep it you are going to wear them, no of you don’t think you will.

I side with the wearer. For myself personally, I want and need to feel fab and don’t want to have to try to “make something work.” I’ve also been where you are…exactly. Wanting to embrace something new, but just not feeling great in it. My guess is that perhaps the wider leg silhouette is making you uncomfortable. I wonder if you would feel better in a more fitted cargo? I see a bit of what Sisi is seeing—that the pants might be just a little too big.

April—you got it! We love our kitties, but right now they are 7 months old and little terrors;our couch will never be the same haha!

So I have not read any other comments yet but just had to say WOW. I was expecting something frumpy from what you wrote and you look ABSOLUTELY AMAZING in these pants. Grown up cargos - I love them on you. Cannot understand what you are seeing but it sure is not reflected in the pics. Look at these with fresh eyes and KEEP and rock them with confidence because that is how they look. All absolutely work, the different tops and shoes, and with the moto is A+. Love your kitties too.

Love…what brand are these? I just ordered a pair, and if they don’t work out,I would give these a try…
that being said, i agree with Jules that the scarfs not working with these pants…and I love Runcarla’s ideas/examples. Sometimes a simple cuff is all it takes to change up how an outfit feels.

#6 & #8 are my favs.

I like them! But how do they feel in the rise length? (Waist to groin). They look like they might be a bit uncomfortably short in that measurement, judging from the photos taken from the rear? They look good and flattering, but my eye is attuned to this because I often have trouble with the rise Length giving me a “wedgie.”

the pants fit you really well. Impressed you can rock the belt and waist look, so trim.
I wear them with tops that cover the waist, a sweater or a button down untucked. Bit slouchy.
Also, love your scarves.

I like them, especially with the plaid, but you have to be comfortable with them. Try more combos, but if you think you'd still feel not so fab, return.

I’d like to know the brand/make of those cargos too!

Since I’d like to give the trend a try, I’m still working on ideas on how to style them…

The ‘youngsters’ are styling these high waisted versions volume on the bottom, but cropped/body con on top, and showing some skin (see pic below). You could try a tank top with tummy coverage, and layer that plaid shirt over (wearing it open).

If you decide to return these particular cargo pants, you could look at trying low waisted/hip hugger versions, or versions that cuff or cinch at the bottom. (Note how the wearers in the photos match the colour of their tops to the colour of their sneakers?)

I don’t know what you are seeing but I love them on you!

But I wonder if you may prefer a more drapey style of cargo pant — I found that made a huge difference to me. They felt more easy and comfortable that way.

I like the pants, and they look like a great fit to me! I like the way you've styled them too. My favorites are with the trainers, but I think only because I like the break of the pants with them. I think playing with the cuff/length as others have already suggested with the heeled shoes, would give you a look are happier with.

My fav is definitely 8, with 7 just behind (well my very fav is #9, but we're talking about cargos here!) I like the whole look in 8 - the great shirt, the belt and boots. The fit is perfect.
These have a ton of potential and you got awesome styling ideas. Show us more!

Based on the model pic of the pants you linked to, I think these are designed to sit a little lower and have a slightly dropped crotch, very similar to the style that Runcarla showed in her picture. So in terms of fit, I am seeing what Jessikams noted (that the rise appears to be too short for you, or perhaps you are wearing them higher than they were designed to sit?). Sizing up might work (to help them sit a little lower) or it may be that this particular cut isn't quite right. Overall, I think this is a great look for you!
