I think that’s what Angie called this kind of tights a few weeks ago. I pulled these out of the “candy store” that’s my closet. I don’t think I’ve ever worn them, but when I got them 3 years ago, I figured their time would come. When I put them on, I was surprised at how much they made me smile. But I don’t think this outfit is quite right—between the hem and the boots, the choppy section of leg is just too short. What say you?

FI, I actually love this! Yes, perhaps it's not as sleek as a column of colour would be, but, it's fun, lively, and the colours are lovely. And from your expression it shows that berry is a happy colour for you too. I say, if it feels good, wear it!

I think this looks great! I don't think it is choppy, probably because the jacket pulls the eye up.

Your best outfit ever! Love it on you!! The skirt is cohesive with your hair, the berry tights echo the jacket...it just plain works!

I really like it, too! There is a cohesiveness to the palette that counteracts any sense of choppiness to me. I could also see the outfit with short booties, when the weather permits. Those tights are a gorgeous, fun color.

Yum! Super fun. This is the berry capsule in action. I am a huge fan of colourful opaque tights. I use burgundy and eggplant ones quite often; I'd really like to find a pair in forest green...

Wow, thank you all for all the enthusiasm! I posted this maybe 20 minutes before I went out, then decided to go with the outfit, because of the first couple comments. I made one change, based on Toronto’s mention of a column of color: I switched the scarf around so that instead of a swath across my front above a band of black, I had a vertical black band, with berry paisley from the scarf in either side, and then the jacket. All the rosiness, with added verticality.

ChristeIJ and JAileen, thanks. I like “loud” b/w patterns, think there is kind of a built-in contrast between the vibrancy of the pattern and the calm of the neutrals. Slim Cat put her finger on another contrast in the skirt itself that’s probably a subconscious reason I like it.

Kathie, you’ve got me pegged quirky, lively, aspiring to be fun and not fussy.

Synne, thanks! Tina Turner’s got some years on me, but I am old enough that “wearing mini skirts with the best of them” sounds extra good to me.

Christina, Nemosmom & nuancedream, isn’t it funny how we are attracted to colors that work for us? The tights, scarf, and jacket were all bought at different times, with no thought of the other, but here they are together.

Firecracker, do you remember when I asked you about changing the shape of a sweater dress? The tights were bought in the same order with that dress, and never worn until today. I’m glad I hung onto them! When we are back in the states, I plan to pick up my black ankle boots. They probably would been fine today, temperature-wise.

LaPed, burgundy and eggplant sound like great colors too. They’ve got shops here that are nothing but hosiery—bet you could find your tannenbaum color there.

I just added a picture of how I actually walked around outside, with my hat, bag, and leopard skin gloves. The bag is a large, flat faux suede square the same color as the strap. My photog didn’t get the boots, but they were the same as before.

I actually really like this! I usually have a problem with a chopped-up leg (which was your question), but I think that because the legwear matches your scarf, the choppiness isn't as evident--everything looks cohesive.
