I took a few moments to peruse The Bay website on my break after seeing Angie's blog post today with pretty lace skirts.

The Bay has a couple of nice options (well, at least IMHO) that also happen to be on sale if anyone is interested.

Thanks Shannon - these are really pretty and like Suz I can really see the usefulness of one. I think they would have some holding power for a few years which is important to me because the wear of something like this would be so infrequent. But still, I would love to have a go to item like this in my closet.

I will admit that the black Lord & Taylor skirt is calling to me a bit...I think it's classic enough to be wearable for a few years but the lace isn't "old fashioned" looking if you know what I mean.

Like you Glory, it would be great to have one of these just reach for when some unexpected party or event should pop up. And then each season you could change it up with whatever the newest top or shoe trend is.

Yup. I can see that, Shannon. I probably won't spring for one myself this year since my holiday events will all be quite casual (alas!!)

Very torn - would love a classic but then again Suz your wisdom is spot on - my holiday events are super casual - not quite PJs but almost. hahaha.
I have the damask pants still to come which I am hopeful would be good for events but also day to day wear. I suspect I may be dreaming about the day to day wear...at least in my neck of the woods.
