Can you wear bootcut jeans with tunics?

I really dislike wearing skinnies. I'll wear them with boots since I have to, but are tunics and bootcuts a bad look? Is it considered volume-on-volume? Are skinnies the only option for tunics?

I think that it is perfectly fine. I do not consider bootcuts 'volume' at all, especially really slim ones. Flare and wide-legged jeans would fall into that category for me. And I still think that you look great in skinnies.

Thanks Tanya. My concern is more about how skinnies feel than how they look. I can't seem to find a pair that fits well. If I get my usual size, it's usually too tight, and if I size up, it's usually too big. I can't seem to find a pair that just fits all over. I have the Express Mias in a 2 and a 4. I can hardly get the 2's over my bum and they seem stretched to the max around my thighs, but the 4's get so loose that they end up falling down around my hips. It's not just those jeans, but all the skinnies I have tried. I just don't think it's a good cut or style for my body type. I prefer my jeans to be relaxed at the thigh, but skinnies that are relaxed at the thigh are basically frumpy tapered jeans :p

Maya, I do think bootcuts can work with tunics--especially if the boot cut is subtle.

If you really want to keep trying for skinnies that work for you, I hope you consider the Newport News skinnies that I've posted about. They have a very high rise in both front and back--and are a bit more relaxed than premium denim skinnies...and they are pretty cheap. They come in a bunch of colors too. I even posted some coupon codes on my "new work outfits" thread for another poster who successfully used them yesterday.

Maya, for skinnies, have you ever tried Cheap Mondays on? If you are going to wear them mostly with boots, they are very tight and the waist is higher too. I think they are unisex, but I see curvy girls in them too. Here's some when I searched: http://www1.yoox.com/searchres.....men/ipp/10

...I just googled Cheap Monday denim. I had a pair I got brand new in a thrift store, but then found the Levi 510 which were better for me, so I gave them away. They run a bit smaller and tighter than other brands, and...they shrink in the dryer!

Boot cuts look great with tunics, Maya. Nice look. I did this just the other day and was with a client today who wore the look too. It’s wide legs and tunics that are tricky.

I have seen Cheap Mondays around Judy, and one of my friends wears them regularly. She is very skinny though and frankly they scare me. Skin tight jeans like that just seem uncomfortable to me. I don't think it has to do with skinny v. curvy girls--this problem seems pretty specific to me. I know plenty of curvy ladies on this forum who love the Mia jeans and don't seem to have a problem with skinnies, but I just can't find a good pair.

Nicole, where did you post about those jeans? I probably missed it.

I hear ya, Maya. Oh the pursuit of the perfect jeans! I even find my "favorite" pair changes depending on those slight variations in weight and of course, my fickle feelings :). I had to take a whole slew of my jeans to the laundromat this week and found myself wearing a pair that I hadn't worn since the summer. At first they were tight, but then after an hour or so, I found myself saying "I love these...I'm sure glad I didn't get rid of them!" Good luck with your quest.
