Can you tell the difference in skirt sizes?

Pic 1 (with black shoes) is he smaller size, pic 2 (with beige shoes) is the larger size. The smaller size just fits in the waist and hips and tucking something in would accentuate my belly, so that's a no-go. But then I probably wouldn't tuck with this skirt anyway. The larger size requires alteration in the waist, but that's easy, I can do it myself, and I would be able to tuck if I wanted to. But I'm not sure if this looks too big overall.

Does one size skirt look better than the other? Is there a noticeable difference in the sizes of the skirts?

Hi Karie. The lighting seems to be a little different in each picture and #1 is hard for me to make out. I actually thought #2 was the smaller skirt! I LOVE the print in that cardigan on you. It's light, airy and buoyant just like your coloring. I love how it has just enough darkness to tie in the skirt. Is it my imagination or is #2 hanging just a little nicer? It's hard to tell.

I am an idiot, I thought the cardis were two different sizes and posted (now deleted) that I couldn't help because it was too hard to tell!
OK, I'll now check out the skirts.

It's the skirt, not the cardi, that I wondering about the sizing on. The smaller size hangs a bit shorter than the longer one, but I don't mind that.

The sweater is fab on you, Karie, for exactly the reasons Claire stated.

I think I like the length of the larger skirt, but if you alter it it might sit where the other one does.

They both look great, so I would go with the one that feels best.

We cross posted Karie, so sorry about my error. The second skirt looks longer but honestly I see no other obvious differences. (Which makes my original answer not too far off the mark I suppose!)

When in doubt I would go for a little bit of ease, so I'd pick the larger one.
Honestly they look pretty much the same in these pictures.

Yes, Suz, when I alter the larger size it will probably be a tad shorter. It's sitting a bit low on my hips because the waist is big. I'm kind of leaning towards keeping the bigger size because then if I gain weight (perish the thought!) I'll still have a skirt that fits. Problem is I get lazy and don't feel like doing alterations, no matter how easy!

They both look good but I like the drape and length of the larger size best on you. It looks like a great skirt. What is the fabric?

Karie this is a great skirt and I like #2 best. It's seems to fall and drape better in the larger size. I like the length also.

To be honest I cant see too much difference, but I agree with Parsley about going for the more comfortable option. They are lovely styles on you. If you want a definite answer then I say go for #2

The larger size seems to have more drape to it, but if you alter it, this might go away. Apart from that (and even this "more drape" isn't that much more...), I don't see much difference btw the skirts.

As @Parsley, though, I tend to favor the larger pieces when in doubt. (When it comes to skirts, the larger pieces allow me to wear them lower, which I like, and still - if it ever strikes me - have them sit on the waist either with the help of a belt, a safety pin or eventually altering them for good)

I think the larger size drapes a little bit better. I would just make sure the larger one does not move by itself around your body as you walk, but if it is not that large and if you can easily fix the waist, go for it.

They both look lovely on you so I don't feel you can go wrong either way. I have been having so many issues with items stretching out lately that I vote trying them both a couple of hours to see if that happens.
There is more drape on the second skirt from what I can see which is very pretty.

I think I will keep the larger skirt. I will only alter the waist with a few waist darts (tucks), and it's a no waistband skirt with side seams, so the alteration is easy. I don't think this will affect the drape since I'm not taking it in all the way down.

Joy, I will check on the fabric content when I get home, but it is some sort of poly blend. The fabric has a nice weight to it and a little give.

I also thought the 2nd pic was the smaller. I think it's because it does sit more at your hip. I like it best and wonder if you really need to alter it.

Joy, the fabric is 95% polyester and 5% elasthanne. It's a nice weight poly and is fully lined.
Tracina, it's loose even sitting at my hips. Definitely needs a tuck or two.
Glory, that's a good idea about wearing it around the house for a bit. I usually don't have the problem of skirts twisting around, but I hate it when I do.
