I'm with Vildy. Shortening the sleeve length--yes, totally doable. Reconstructing the armhole--nope, costly and unlikely that you'd be happy with the result. But, if it's a gift and not really returnable, can you wear it with skinnies, boots, and a heavy sweater for fall. Depending on the style of the jacket, I'm seeing more of that volume on top look in the fashion mags. It definitely looks different than the close cropped look than we've seen in the past years, but I kind of like it. It reminds me of the BF jean only this time you've swiped your BF's jacket.
